Aaisha M. - MISSISSAUGA DUNDAS - INTRA ORAL LEVEL I & II DENTAL ASSISTANT
Despite having 4 kids, I still managed to study and pass all the tests with flying colours because our classes were taught so well. I challenged the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) exam and passed, thanks to the confidence I gained from studying at Anderson. I also made some really good friends which I am still in touch with, and what we learned was to persevere, be helpful and never give up. Thank you to Anderson College, for helping me achieve my goal of completing a college education and helping me to get an extremely respected job, all within one year and at the age of 41!
My Story
“Education has no limits!” This is a wise saying I have known since childhood but actually realized, when I came to Canada.
When I moved to Ontario in 2019, I wanted to start working immediately but given my background, I was not sure if I would be successful. By the time COVID hit, there was no way to find a job or career that suited my choices. One day I realized that I should look for some courses that may help me to get the right job. I Googled a few programs, and one was being offered by Anderson College. I clicked on the link which connected me to the admissions office. Megan was kind in helping me to explore all the options and I decided to join the Intra Oral Level I & II Dental Assistant program; luckily it was offered virtually!
I started on July 19th, 2021. Our teachers, Manjot and Joanne, helped us in every way from working on our assignments to preparing our presentations. We all belong to different cultures and backgrounds, but Joanne understood every person’s limitation and talent and helped us to become dental assistants through virtual and in-person classes. Despite having 4 kids, I still managed to study and pass all the tests with flying colours because our classes were taught so well.
I made some really good friends which I am still in touch with. We discuss our professional issues, seek each other’s support, and share as much information as we can. What we learned at Anderson College was to persevere, be helpful and never give up.
We celebrated Halloween, Christmas, New Year and the year-end party virtually and not once did it ever occur to us that we are online and not enjoying our experiences at Anderson College. After completing the courses and placements, we were lucky enough to find jobs very quickly. Joanne was so supportive and motivated us to challenge the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) exam, which I passed, thanks to the confidence I gained from studying at Anderson.
Thank you to Anderson College, for helping me achieve my goal of completing a college education and helping me to get an extremely respected job, all within one year and at the age of 41!
Adriana S. - MISSISSAUGA HURONTARIO - PARALEGAL
I was a scared, abandoned, and lost young mother with limited options. I could either stay home with my son and work or go to school and, one day, have a career. People advised me to play it safe, but a small part of me knew that wasn't good enough. So, I applied to Anderson College's Paralegal program, hoping to gain a better understanding of the legal system and my rights as a young, single mother. The supportive community here gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams and be a better mother. Anderson College changed my life, and I am grateful for the amazing teachers and the new beginning it has given me.
My Story
My name is Adriana Shaw, and I am 20 years old. I am the proud mother of the happiest baby boy and a full-time student in the Paralegal diploma program at Anderson College. Before I started this program, I was scared, abandoned, and overall lost. Uncertain of what my next move was going to be, I decided to evaluate my options, and honestly, I didn't have very many.
I could stay home and just work, or I could go to school and eventually have a career. Many people around me felt that working and staying home with my son was the best option. A big part of me felt like that was my safest bet, but a small part of me, the little light of hope I had left, didn't believe that was good enough.
Being sick and tired of playing it safe, I decided to apply to this program at a school: Anderson College. I chose paralegal studies because I always had an interest in gaining a better understanding of our legal system and what I can and can't do within my rights as a young woman and single mother. The Mississauga campus is the first learning environment I've entered where I felt safe and like I was an active member of a community. Anderson College and the community within have helped me regain my confidence, expand my level of creativity and, overall, have shown me how essential having good and healthy support is to one's accomplishments.
The word "change" is an understatement for what this college and this community have done for my life. My son will have a better mother, my parents will have a happier daughter, and my teachers will have an amazing student who is thankful for their support. Anderson changed my life because this school is where my future life began.
Afrin Mohamed J. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
I was confused about what I wanted to do in my life and which path to take, but Anderson College gave me the educational information and encouragement I needed to advance my career. The instructors and staff at Anderson were always accessible, friendly, and happy to do all they could for their students. I was concerned about virtual learning but was put at ease once I discovered how user-friendly the online platform was and how generous Anderson’s resources were. Anderson College has significantly changed my career. It gave me the training, encouragement, and resources I needed to reach my career goals.
My Insights
My life has been greatly influenced by Anderson College. I was confused about what I wanted to do in my life as a student and which path to take, but Anderson College gave me the educational information and encouragement I needed to advance my career.
The Anderson staff were always encouraging and dedicated to assisting me in achieving my objectives.
To assist me in making selections regarding my education and future, they provided me with personal advice and direction. The instructors and staff at Anderson College were always accessible, friendly, and happy to do all they could for their students.
The fact that Anderson College offers students experiential learning opportunities is one of the biggest benefits. I was prepared for my future profession through the real-world experiences I had and the experiential training I received. I was able to apply what I learned in class to real-life situations, which helped me to become a confident student.
I was concerned about the standard of learning and the quality of support I would get as an online student. But my worries were put at ease when I discovered how user-friendly the online platform was and how generous the college's resources were. Through the lecturers' expertise and kindness, I found that learning was just as fascinating. Also, the online education system was a form of education that allowed me to learn from the comfort of my own home. These online lectures were extremely beneficial to me as I was able to take notes and save lectures for future reference. By doing this, I was able to get a hold of the course materials whenever it was convenient for me.
More than I can express in words, Anderson College has significantly changed my career. It gave me the training, encouragement, and resources I needed to reach my career goals. If anybody is looking for the best education to help them achieve their dream profession and prepare them to achieve their future goals, Anderson College is the best option for them. Agatha S. - NORTH YORK - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
Attending Anderson College was one of the best decisions I ever made. The campus is beautiful, the faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the opportunities for growth and development are endless. Anderson prioritizes relationship-building in its academic and professional programs, and I always felt like I was part of a supportive community that wanted me to succeed. The curriculum was so fine tuned; it prepared me for my chosen career path, and I developed a broad skillset that has served me well in my professional life. I would highly suggest Anderson College … it has everything you need to succeed in your academic and professional pursuits.
My Story
My name is Agatha. As someone who attended Anderson, I can confidently say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The campus is beautiful, the faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the opportunities for growth and development are endless.
One of the things that made my time at Anderson so special was the relationships that I formed while there. From my first day, I felt welcomed by students and staff. Whether it was my instructors, classmates, or the staff, I always felt like I was part of a supportive community that wanted me to succeed. A deep contrast from the systems in other postsecondary schools where you are expected to guide yourself and do the majority of everything on your own, with no learning curve; they just place you and expect you to know what to do and where to go. I’m glad that wasn’t the case with Anderson at all. They catered to me on an individual level and acknowledged me as a person, and not just one of many students.
In essence, I appreciate how Anderson prioritizes relationship-building in its academic and professional programs. The faculty was always available, which helped me feel more engaged with my coursework and better prepared for life after graduation.
In terms of academics, Anderson offered a challenging curriculum, that enriched me nonetheless and improved skills that I didn't even know could be further improved. The curriculum was so fine tuned and prepared me for my chosen career path. I was able to explore a wide range of subjects and develop a broad skillset that has served me well in my professional life.
Perhaps the most important thing I took away from my time at Anderson, was the importance of building new relationships. Whether it was with fellow students, instructors, or professionals in my field, I learned that making new connections is essential to success in any area of life. By forming new relationships, we gained access to new opportunities, ideas, and perspectives to help us grow and develop in ways we never thought possible.
In conclusion, I would highly suggest Anderson College to anyone who is looking for a high-quality college experience that prioritizes relationships and personal growth. From the courteous faculty to the knowledge-filled curriculums and the supportive community, Anderson has everything you need to succeed in your academic and professional pursuits.
Amilia C. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Shifting from the social services field and returning to school as a mature student for the Medical Office Administrator (MOA) program at Anderson College, significantly improved my life. Being someone who struggles with anxiety, attending Anderson empowered me to think positively, optimistically, and to dream; it has opened a door to endless opportunities. My instructor motivated and inspired me, as did my partner, and I could count on the staff’s consistent support. I’m now working toward a career that gives me purpose and makes me feel whole. I’m so glad I took my friend’s advice and joined Anderson College.
My Insights
Choosing the Medical Office Administrator (MOA) program has significantly improved my life. Originally, I was in the social services field, so, beginning MOA was quite a change. But the program helped me to think critically. Also, being someone who struggles with anxiety, starting this program gave me new breathing ground, an opportunity to think positively, to think optimistically, and to dream.
Certainly, no person is an island, therefore, I would not have gotten this far if it were not for my professor, Farrah Riyahi, who was tough, but for our greater good. Her words were always inspiring, and she never stopped encouraging us to do our best. She is an inspiration to me, and, I am sure, to others. Without her help, motivation, and support, I would be behind. My partner also supported me throughout this journey; there were times after experiencing an emergency c-section in December that I thought about giving up, but he was there encouraging me every step of the way.
As my program ends, Anderson College has made it an easy sailing one for me. I could always rely on the staff if I needed anything. For instance, a time when my computer was malfunctioning, it only took one email for me to get a computer from the school. I am amazed by the consistency. Though it was online, they managed to make it work and my professor helped with this by making sure students understood all the material. Anderson College has opened a door in the medical field that I have always wanted to walk through. It has opened my eyes to endless opportunities.
Overall, starting the MOA program at Anderson College as a mature student has given me a routine. I now have things to do, my days are no longer wasted. I have something to go to bed thinking about and to wake up with something to look forward to. This makes me feel whole, I have a purpose and a goal, and I am proud of myself. Mahatma Gandhi said, "The future depends on what you do today." I am glad I took my friend’s advice, as well as the staff at Anderson, who support me through every step along the way. They have led me this far and, once I complete my program, even further.

My Insights
My journey at Anderson College has been a momentous one, that I will never forget. It all started when I made the decision to enroll as I was looking for a career. I am driven to learn, to achieve and develop new skills, for increasing my employment and career opportunities. From my first day of class to my last, I remained focused on my goals.
My goal is to secure another career, to be of help to the significant workplace shortage in the healthcare industry. Keeping my goals at the forefront of my mind, I studied hard. I stayed up late in the night reading, doing assignments and early mornings to do the same. I studied every day making sure to keep track to see the fulfillment of my goal.
At Anderson College the teachers were so supportive and accommodating to my learning needs. This was my first experience doing online studies at which I was a novice, but I soon became knowledgeable with the faculty’s assistance, and I even began helping other students to navigate through their issues and challenges. I became confident with my newfound skills and enjoyed my virtual learning. I have had a valuable experience and gained knowledge through virtual lectures and discussions, while making new friendships. What an adventure! I enjoyed my in-class sessions as well, where we were able to physically meet and actively engage in our hands-on learning.
My teachers wanted every student to succeed and were very positive, enthusiastic, patient and motivating as they were teaching us. With teachers dedicated to seeing you succeed, how could I fail, there is no way! I stayed on track, determined to get good grades and pass all courses. I told myself I will not fail; I will succeed, and I did it! I passed and with honours and am proud of my achievements.
I am working as a PSW now and I feel honored to be able to contribute by helping during this unprecedented nursing staff shortage due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Attending Anderson College helped me fulfill my goals and achieve the education I required to become a healthcare worker. I got my career! Thank you to my teachers at Anderson College!
Andrea B. - YONGE EGLINTON - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
For years I was living in fear, afraid of being judged for being different. But at Anderson College, the staff are very accepting and accommodating; I’ll never forget their smiling faces on that first day I arrived. I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program because I was inspired by my sister, who’s a nurse in the Philippines. I too want to apply my skills to support people, in a field that’s in demand. Anderson has unlocked the door to life-long self-confidence and promising career opportunities, allowing me to maximize my potential. I'm no longer afraid of going against the current. I have mustered up the courage to make ripples and influence the flow, thanks to Anderson College.
My Insights
My urge to learn and gain better opportunities is the reason I considered studying again. I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program because this job is in demand within Canada. I believe it's fair to say that my career evolved gradually when I began my academic journey here at Anderson College.
It didn't very much follow the traditional route of learning, rather, it led me to a comprehensive manner of education and training. Instructors, especially Ms. A taught us to dream bigger and not be afraid of going beyond our limits. My sister is a registered nurse in the Philippines, and never failed to guide and walk me through my journey here at Anderson College with pieces of advice that are useful, inspirational, and motivational.
My most vivid memory of Anderson College's excellence in academic and skills tutelage was the look that I saw on their faces as I enter the campus premises. A bright smile, bestowing the approval of how notably fitting and effective this institution is in terms of its efficiency and competence, allowing me to maximize my potential and helping me utilize my skills to the fullest.
As such, I believe I will bring about a remarkable upswing in my proficiency. The PSW program gives me the chance to provide professional assistance to those who are in dire need of help. I am also happy to apply and practice my learned skills to help and support people. Despite historic, and linguistic differences and distinct Asian nationalities being treated similarly around the world, I never felt outcasted at all during my stay here at Anderson College.
The college staff are very accepting and accommodating. Anderson College unlocked the door to life-long self-confidence and promising career opportunities. For years, I had been living in fear and afraid to start somewhere. Oftentimes, I opted out due to my fear of being judged for being different, now, I'm no longer afraid of going against the current. I have mustered up the courage to make ripples and influence the flow, thanks to Anderson College. "Never dream about success, work for it."
Andrea S. - WINDSOR - BUSINESS ACCOUNTING & PAYROLL
Turning thirty made me revaluate my life; Anderson College and the Business Accounting & Payroll program provided an opportunity to gain new skills and achieve the sense of accomplishment I felt was missing. It was all a little intimidating at first, but the teachers and staff made the application and studying process comfortable and efficient. The small class size allowed for interaction, helping to build my confidence. After graduating I landed a job as a payroll clerk and am now earning the highest salary I have ever received. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as an accomplished academic.
My Story
It began on my thirtieth birthday. Turning thirty is somewhat of a milestone age and has a way of making a person re-evaluate where they are in life, what you’ve accomplished thus far and what goals you still wish to achieve. In my scenario, it was my incomplete education and that I hadn’t graduated from university that made me seriously think about the choices I needed to make. When I learned about Anderson College and the Business Accounting and Payroll program, I found it to be the perfect opportunity to go back to school, gain new skills, and ultimately give me that missing sense of accomplishment.
At first the process seemed a little intimidating, but with the help of the teachers and staff, they made the application and studying process comfortable. First, they were very helpful with guiding me in the right direction in choosing the program best suited for my goals. The amount of consideration and time they put into helping me made me feel like I truly mattered as an individual and I wasn’t just a number. Throughout my studies, I was able to interact with the teachers and students, feeling confident to give my input in the conversations and questions. I enjoyed the intimate size of the class, and the fact that Majlinda would check in with all of us individually to make sure we understood the material. She truly cared about our progress and made sure we were getting the most out of our educational experience.
After graduating, I handed out resumes and networked by word of mouth, for any possible job opportunities. Due to my recent success of graduating from Anderson College, I landed a job as a payroll clerk for a company called Innercore Installations. The hiring manager mentioned they were impressed by my willingness to go back to school and could see my potential for success. They admired my integrity and decided to give me a chance with their growing company. I am currently employed by Innercore Installations, with the highest salary I have ever received to date, and the future continues to look brighter than ever.
I have so much appreciation for Anderson College and all the people who helped me along my journey. So many doors have been opened for me because of my experience, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as an accomplished academic.
Angeles C. - NORTH YORK - BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
I am a business owner who, after some self-reflection, decided that I needed to have formal training in the field of business. The Business Administration program at Anderson College is comprehensive and gives me a competitive advantage in today’s ever-changing job market. I am updating my skills for the modern business world, so that I will be able to negotiate with more investors and business partners, attract more clients and ensure quality goods and services. Anderson College is our most steadfast supporter as we face every struggle; it allows me to encounter opportunities to pursue and it’s like my second family.
My Story
I am a business owner and had invested in some business opportunities to help me with establishing myself. After some self-reflection, I decided that I needed to have formal training in the field of business. I researched several colleges in Canada so that I could pursue my academic career and experience quality education. Anderson College stood out to me for many reasons, including the fact that they offered lower tuition fees than other private schools, and offered a range of one-year courses.
The Business Administration program at Anderson is comprehensive and gives me a competitive advantage in today's ever-changing job market. I enrolled because I want to obtain updated skills to allow me to work in the modern business world and gain specialized skills in global business standards. I am very eager to expand the scope of my knowledge and skill; I want to be multifaceted and discover several avenues where I can excel. After my studies, I hope to be able to negotiate with more investors and business partners, be able to attract more clients, and ensure the quality of goods and services.
The thing I like most about my program is the fact I am obtaining an education in multiple business disciplines and developing a strong foundation in the functional areas of business. I am gaining skills in working under tight timelines, problem-solving, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous learning. I am learning about using computer applications and working in an office environment. I am gaining knowledge and skills in contemporary global concepts, theories, and business practices.
My family supported me mentally, physically, and financially throughout the application process and everything went smoothly. I would like to thank Ms. Lidia in the Admission Office, who never failed to guide and enlighten me on every single detail I needed to know, plus the helpdesk that never let a day pass without answering and solving the problems we students encountered.
Anderson College is like my second family and a small community that allows me to encounter new and challenging opportunities to pursue. With Anderson College, our future will be brighter as we always see the sunshine"; it is our most steadfast supporter as we face every struggle.
Anjali S. - WINDSOR - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
I find some environments and communications can trigger me but with Anderson College this is not the case; I have truly been comfortable my entire journey. I chose the Personal Support Worker program because I love talking to and meeting new people and find helping people makes me happy. At Anderson, all the staff members were really helpful, including my coordinator, financial aid advisor, and teachers. Studying at Anderson changed my life a lot and can help me advance in my career.
My Insights
The environment and communication issues, these things can trigger me a lot for going back to school but somehow at Anderson, everything seems normal, and I enjoyed and have been comfortable in my entire journey. I chose the PSW program. Giving support to those who are in need and helping them with their daily activities sounds normal but requires a lot of courage. I love to talk and meet with new people, helping people makes me happier than those who receive the support.
At the time, when I chose this program, I was wondering how it would change my life but as soon as I learned about it, I started thinking that this was the best decision that I have ever made. I choose my program as it was a program that has a lot of demand and jobs in Canada, and the salary is good. At Anderson, all the staff members were really helpful, including my coordinator, financial aid advisor, and teachers. The one who helped me the most was my financial aid advisor. She guided me through each next step of my journey at Anderson, without her I don't think I would have even had hope for completing my study.
My parents and my husband are the ones who helped me a lot during my study period. Getting paperwork done and taking me from home to school and back home, my husband helped me with everything even though he has his work. He gave my study much more priority and helped me a lot by making me understand the things during my study period.
Studying at Anderson changed my life a lot and can help me advance in my career. The certificate provided by this college and the memories that I earn would be a key to my success. The thing that I love about this program is that I get to meet new people and understand other values, cultures and can gain knowledge about how to support those who need care. This attracts me more towards this program. The Anderson community is really cooperative, helpful and has your back. The lifestyle improves a lot as we will learn how to get time managed. "Never miss an opportunity if it comes to you by itself", is the only advise that I can give to other students and myself as well.
Anna G. - MISSISSAUGA HURONTARIO - PARALEGAL
Anderson College has allowed me to enhance my life and steer it in a better direction; I can see new goals, opportunities, and paths ahead. By taking the Paralegal program, I came to understand the significance of this profession and its importance to the public. Now, my aspirations go beyond merely obtaining a college diploma; I aim to help those in need and open doors that were once closed to me.
My Insight
Regardless of whether I end up providing legal services in the future, I now understand the significance of this profession and its importance to the public. Anderson College has allowed me to enhance my life and steer it in a better direction. I can see new goals, opportunities, and paths ahead. My aspirations now go beyond merely obtaining a college diploma; I aim to help those in need and open doors that were once closed to me.
Armanda R. - WINDSOR - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
As a young girl, I always loved helping people and knew that’s what I wanted to do in my life. As a 32-year-old mom, even though I was nervous about going back to school, I enrolled in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at Anderson College. The staff was so supportive, and my instructor was amazing, so kind and patient; she helped me to be the best student I could be. Although I was in school full time, worked full time and am a full-time mom, I still graduated with honours! Now I have a full-time career as a PSW. I love what I’m doing and I’m so much happier in my life!
My Insights
As a young girl, I always loved helping people and knew that is what I wanted to do in my life. When the opportunity came for me to go back to school, I was all for it. I was a 32-year-old mom, very nervous and apprehensive about going back to school, but I am very glad I made the decision to go to Anderson College.
When I first started at Anderson Collage, I was shy and in my own little shell. My teacher Lucy Balkwill was amazing; she helped me get out of my shell and be the best student I could be. She was kind and patient, and I don’t think I would have been able to do it without her and her knowledge and drive.
I ended up graduating on the honour roll and it is all due to her and the great staff at the school. Going back was not easy, I was in school full time and worked full time while being a full-time mom. There were plenty of times I wanted to quit but she helped me realize why I was doing this. Now I have a full-time career as a personal support worker. I am so much happier in my life. I love what I am doing.
Ashlee M. - WINDSOR - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
As a 32-year-old mother of 2 boys, what made me go back to school was COVID and my desire to build a better life for my children. I not only lost my job, but I lost young people I loved to suicide. Going back to school was something I needed to do; I saw the Anderson College ad and didn’t hesitate. I knew it would be hard, but I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; help people who need care and love from other human beings. My son told me, “You can do anything you put your mind to,” and seeing how proud he was of me on graduation day was the best feeling in the world. Thank you, Anderson College, for changing my life and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.
My Story
My name is Ashlee and I’m a 32-year-old mother of 2 boys (9 and 2). What made me go back to school was COVID-19 and I wanted to do better in my life for my kids.
During COVID 19 I lost my job and some very young people in my life due to suicide. I felt hopeless and very sad. Grief and suicide were things I didn't know how to deal with. Going back to school and making a change for myself was something I needed to do. I saw the Facebook post for Anderson College’s Personal Support Worker (PSW) program, and I applied right away with no hesitation. I knew it would be hard, but I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; help people who need care and love from other human beings. My Mimi was also in a nursing home and seeing how she lived, watching her go through dementia, gave me a different outlook on life, inspired me.
Going to the college and meeting the teachers and other students became very rewarding. When I needed help with home life, or just someone to talk to, my peers and teachers were always there to help so I wouldn't get discouraged. They made me push forward, to stay focused, and wouldn’t let me give up. If a person is looking for the right path and the right college, I would tell them about my experience at Anderson College and how much it has benefited my life.
When I graduated, my son and my boyfriend came to support me, and it was the best feeling in the world to see my son smile the way he did on that day. He was so proud of me, and I remember him telling me, “You can do anything you put your mind to”. I told him that he was absolutely correct. Never give up on your dreams. Two quotes I live by are: "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” BB King and "Never let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game,” Babe Ruth. Thank you for changing my life and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.
Ashley M. - WINDSOR - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
For seven years I worked minimum-wage retail jobs, unfulfilled, struggling to get ahead even though I was working everyday; my life felt like it was on a loop. I was looking for career advancement, and I wanted to make a difference. Anderson College was like no other school I’d attended. The training in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program made sense and was organized; the entire staff cared about my success. I was able to achieve excellent grades and finished at 100%; I feel so proud. I’m halfway through my student placement at Berkshire Care Centre, I absolutely love it and they asked if I’ll be applying – “Absolutely!”. Anderson has helped me find my passion. I can’t wait to start this new chapter. Thank you!
My Story
For the last seven years I’ve worked at a minimum-wage retail job, through high school and my first round of post-secondary. For the last two years I’ve been out of school and had to switch to a full-time position at the store. I constantly found myself struggling to make enough money to get ahead even though I was working everyday. My life felt like it was on a loop and that the days were just passing me by. I had nothing to show for how hard I was working and no time to enjoy life.
One night I was scrolling through Facebook and saw the advertisement for Anderson College offering the Challenge Fund PSW program. I was looking for career advancement and most importantly, a job that would leave me feeling fulfilled. I wanted to make a difference. I was tired of feeling like my work contributions at my retail job didn’t matter and walking away every day feeling drained.
I was pleasantly surprised when my classes started in September of 2022. The delivery of the education is unlike any other school I’ve attended. For once I didn’t feel like I was set up for failure and had to cram in a bunch of information. The information I was learning made sense and was organized in a way for us to understand, not just memorize. My teacher, Lucy Balkwill, always made sure that we understood what we were learning, and she would take extra time out of the week to schedule a study session prior to the quiz/test. Thanks to Lucy’s dedication to the success of her students I was able to strive for excellent grades and finished at 100%. I felt so proud. The entire staff at the Anderson/Windsor campus cared about my success and helped me get on the right path.
I am now halfway through my student placement at Berkshire Care Centre, and I absolutely love it! The days fly by, the people are amazing, the work I do means something, and I get paid while I learn. I’ve already been asked if I will be applying to Berkshire and my answer is, “Absolutely!”. Anderson has helped me find my passion; I can honestly say I love the work I do, and I can’t wait to start this new chapter! Thank you, Anderson College!
Austin M. - WINDSOR - IT TECHNICIAN
After seeing my mother go back to school and, within a single year, graduate with a diploma, get a job making more than ever before, and rent a new house independently, I thought to myself, “This is something I need to do. If she can do it while raising three kids, I can do it working full time”. I’ve currently been enrolled in the IT Technician program for almost 8 months and have gained a wealth of knowledge about IT and finance. This has allowed me to advance in my workplace, managing more responsibilities and bringing greater value to the company. Anderson College has enhanced many aspects of my life, as I now have more goals to conquer and a great support team.

Before 2022, I never thought that I would have the opportunity to go back to school to continue my education, better myself and broaden my horizons. However, after seeing that my mother was able to go back to school and, within a single year, graduate with a diploma, get a job making more than she ever had, and rent a new house independently, I thought to myself, “This is something I need to do for my future self. If she can do it while raising three kids, then I can do it working full time”. I decided to look into the fast-tracked courses that were offered at Anderson College and focused on enrolling in the IT Technician program, at the Windsor campus, as soon as possible.
While figuring out how to enrol, I called the office and was put in contact with an extremely helpful staff member named Sarah. She explained to me in more depth about the courses that were offered, how they worked, and when they started. I was eager to get begin right away but, unfortunately, I lacked the necessary funds to enrol.
Sarah sat down with me and gave me some insight into the financial aid programs offered to students. She helped me figure out a rough estimate of cost for the IT technician program and showed me how to apply for financial aid online myself. After applying for OSAP and getting approved by the Campus Director, I was able to enroll and start my post-secondary education.
I’ve currently been enrolled in the program for almost 8 months and have gained a wealth of knowledge about the IT field. This, in turn, has allowed me to advance in my workplace now that I can manage more responsibilities and bring greater value to the company. Not only have I been learning about IT tech, but I also got to take a financial course which gave me more financial information than I ever learned about before, covering topics from credit and loans to the stock market.
Being enrolled at Anderson College has enhanced many aspects of my life. This includes moving up in the workplace, having a good sense of good versus bad debt, and has improved my overall daily life, as I now have more goals to conquer and a great support team that is there for me.

I went back to college because I didn’t have job security or satisfaction. I saw the news headlines about staff shortages in long-term care and I wanted to make a difference. Having a disabled mother and experience was working with children, I felt passionate about this field. Anderson College, with its variety of class times and locations, and the length of the Personal Support Worker program made the decision easy. Staff, at every level and department, was friendly, professional, and approachable and my teacher was highly knowledgeable and experienced. I am honoured to have attended Anderson College and recommend this outstanding establishment to others seeking direction, fulfillment, and hope.

I considered going back to school because I did not have job security or satisfaction. I saw headlines in the news, and stories, about the shortage of staff in long-term care and I wanted to make a difference. I have a disabled mother and was recently working with children, so had experience working with the vulnerable. Anderson College has a variety of professions to consider along with multiple options for taking and attending class, and convenient locations within the city and surrounding areas. I chose the Personal Support Worker program at Anderson College because there were various class times offered and the length of the program was reasonable.
Anderson College is amazing! Staff at every level and department was friendly, professional, and approachable. They assisted me with understanding documents, ensured all paperwork was returned by the deadline and filled out properly, and sent communications along with reminders. A community and close unit were fostered and formed within our class, because the teacher imparted the importance of, and passion for, our future field. The receptionist was always cheerful, helpful, caring, and able to direct a call or answer my many questions. My teacher was highly knowledgeable and experienced. She combined theory along with applicable hands-on lessons for maximum retention and affect. Each lesson was relevant, timely, and informative. Anderson College truly cares about its graduates. Follow-ups and check-ins were done to ask about program satisfaction, job recruitment, and overall wellness.
I am confident that the training and teaching that was provided equipped me with the skillset that every employer requires. After successful completion of the in-class testing, I put my skills into practice during an extensive placement. I did not realize how profound it is to help with the daily activities of life for another; it means so much to the individual I am assisting, and their family members.
I am honoured to have attended Anderson College and will always recommend this outstanding establishment to others seeking direction, fulfillment, and hope. Anderson College offers and delivers every opportunity to succeed!!!

I became more of me and less of what society wanted me to be. Anderson College changed me for the better, as my experience empowered me to learn and grow and become a better human being and professional.
I chose the Medical Esthetician program because beauty is my passion. Anderson College helped me to boost my self confidence and self esteem. My professors were very kind and supportive. I loved doing the practicum work because it allowed us to learn and understand about different machines that we would be using while working at a spa/clinic. In 2017, my partner and I moved to Canada in search of a life of freedom. I decided to search for something that would give me an opportunity to have a better income, to help people and give back to my community. Anderson College and the Personal Support Worker program provided me with the platform to launch my career; I now work at Lakeridge Health. Working as a PSW also inspired me to become a registered practical nurse, and I have already started this process. All of this happened because Anderson taught me to believe in myself and my partner supported me along the way. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude.
My Story
In 2017, my partner and I decided to move to Canada in search of a better life and to live freely and express ourselves in this country. The journey was tough, but it was worth it in the end. The resettlement process was challenging, and as a professional makeup artist, I found it difficult to secure makeup jobs in Toronto. I had to work as a concierge for over three years, but I always knew that I wanted more and that I wanted to offer more to my community.
I decided to search for something that would give me an opportunity to have a better income. My family and friends encouraged me to become a personal support worker (PSW), since I care so much about helping people and giving back to my community.
I started researching schools that could help me become a PSW and found Anderson College online. I reached out to them, and everyone from Judith, Jesus, Ruth to Miss Barbra, who was my teacher, was very helpful every step of the way until my program was completed.
Anderson College provided me with the platform to launch my career, and now I work as a PSW at Lakeridge Health with a better income and a better life. Moreover, I am set to marry my best friend of over 10 years.
Working as a PSW inspired me to become a registered practical nurse, and I have already started the process. All of this happened because Anderson provided me with an enabling environment and taught me to believe in myself. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Anderson College and my partner, who supported me every step of the way, and has been my support system from the start. Anderson College has forever changed my life.

I was inspired to choose Anderson College because it is among the best private colleges in Canada and offers the quality education that is needed in my country and in this present modern world. I chose the PSW program because I want to support the elderly and other people who need assistance, who are vulnerable. Anderson empowered me to advance my career in many ways, including helping me to register and enroll as an international student, and build international connections, as I will train with potential employers. The team has helped shape my life positively and I encourage aspiring students to choose Anderson College because it is, simply, the best.

I was inspired to choose Anderson College because it is among the best private colleges in Canada and offers the quality education that is needed in my country and in this present modern world.
I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program because I want to help the elderly and other people who need assistance, who are vulnerable and cannot help themselves in their day-to-day activities. I believe a career as a PSW will help me to achieve my goal.
The staff member who gave me the support I needed as a PSW student, to pursue my career, is Anabel Daquigan. Dr. Chisom gave me even more assistance in my academic pursuit and provided moral support.
Anderson College empowered me to advance my career in many ways, including helping me to register and enrol as an international student. The team helped shape my life positively. What I like most about the Anderson community is their various funding options, friendly staff, and easy access to the Internet. Anderson College opened the door of international experience for me and allowed me to gain knowledge about different cultural activities. It also opened the door of international connections for me, because after my studies Anderson will link me to, and I will train, with potential employers.
As an adult student, Anderson College supported my overall lifestyle in positive ways, which included helping me to gain a deeper understanding about different ways to be in the world. I gained even more knowledge from the books I read as I was preparing for the tests. This also inspired me to embark on becoming part of a reading culture. I now read books during my leisure hours instead of engaging in activities that do not add any value to my life.
In conclusion, I want to advise other students to be very focused and serious with their studies; I encourage them to be friendly with their fellow students. They should concentrate on their studies and make sure they are not distracted by activities that will make them not perform well. Above all, they should always make their studies and career a priority. I want to also encourage aspiring students to choose Anderson College because it is, simply, the best.

My journey with Anderson College began when my wife, who is an alumnus, introduced me the college. I did extremely well throughout the course, despite the fact that Covid-19 hit while we were doing our placements. Since graduating, I have had the opportunity, for almost three years now, to have a huge impact in a retirement home and in the community. I am forever grateful to Anderson College and their amazing team.
My Insights
My journey with Anderson College began when my wife, who is an alumnus, introduced me to the college. At that time, I was working at my second factory. Travel time was horrible, and I was concerned about my health due to materials that I was required to handle on a daily basis.
We met with ‘the awesome Lisa’, who shared with me that the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program could lead to good career and reluctantly, at first, I decided to try. Vera at the front desk was very nice and welcoming. Our instructor, Rani, and other staff members also made sure we had everything we needed to get started. I was very excited, as it was my very first classroom experience in this amazing country.
I did extremely well throughout the course, despite the fact that Covid-19 hit while we were doing our placements and we had to return home from the site for safety reasons. Unfortunately, it took us another twenty months, approximately, to have the opportunity to write the National Association of Career College (NACC) PSW exam. But when the time came, I aced it and it led to my graduating with honors.
Since graduating, I have had the opportunity, for almost three years now, to have a huge impact in a retirement home and in the community. I am forever grateful to Anderson College and the amazing team that was able to steer us to success amidst all the many unforeseen challenges that we would face in 2020 and beyond. Thank you, Anderson College!

This program equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience I needed to excel as a PSW and to pursue further career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
During my academic journey at Anderson College, the academic team was always there to support me in various ways. Our PSW instructor, Rani H, provided me with the necessary resources, guidance, and mentorship that helped me to thrive academically and professionally. Our lab instructor, Gloria Munoz’s encouragement and feedback gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my passion for healthcare, and to push myself to achieve my goals which led me to win the PSW-Hybrid Outstanding Performance in our lab sessions. My placement coordinator also played a huge role in providing guidance during my placement by addressing most of my concerns and liaising with my placement management when needed; this reassured me that Anderson College is deeply committed to helping its students.

I was in my 60’s when I decided to take Anderson’s PSW course; education is a continuous process and age, for me, doesn’t matter. The teachers were knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Our skills were enhanced, we learned proper techniques, enjoyed working with colleagues and, most of all, it taught me compassion in caring for the elderly. Having a Canadian PSW certificate makes a big difference to one’s resume and it boosts my confidence. I am proud to tell my employers that I earned a PSW certificate from Anderson College. I can sum up my experience as awesome and rewarding!
My Insights
I was in my 60’s when I decided to take Anderson’s PSW course. Not only because it was a government-paid program but also a convenient way of learning because it was online study coupled with few weeks of in-school lab. Another positive was the location. The campus was near where I live, and the commute was fast and easy. So, there was no reason not to enroll.
The student coordinator, Ms. Christina Chen is a very supportive, cheerful, and accommodating person. She helped me along the way with any issues I faced. The teachers were knowledgeable, approachable, helpful, and patient with students of different nationalities. The teaching makes it easy to comprehend.
The placement for our experience was well chosen; it was arranged well by the school. We were exposed to the real-life situation of caring for the elderly. Our skills were enhanced, we learned proper techniques, enjoyed working with colleagues and, most of all, it taught me compassion and how to be more caring for the elderly.
I can say that education is a continuous process and age, for me, doesn’t matter. I had already been working as a caregiver since coming to Canada in 2008 but having a Canadian PSW certificate makes a big difference to one’s resume. It boosts my confidence, and I am proud to tell my employers that I earned a PSW certificate from Anderson College. I can sum up my experience as awesome and rewarding. I am very glad that I grabbed this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Clarissa M. - MISSISSAUGA DUNDAS - SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS
For nine years I was apart from my three girls, as I traveled and worked to provide a better life for my family. When they arrived in Canada I was working at a medical company and saw that there were better positions available. I enrolled with Anderson College in the Supply Chain and Logistics program and after my first class I was so sure that I had made the right choice. Even though I worked fulltime and am a single mom, Anderson College made it simple for me to balance everything. I was able to graduate with honors. Thank you, Anderson College, for helping me show my kids that anything is possible!
My Story
Hi, my name is Clarissa Manding, and I would like to share my story of how my experience at Anderson College has given me new hope.
In order for me to show how Anderson College has changed my life, I should talk about my story. I'm a single mother of three wonderful girls who recently arrived in Canada, after being away from me for nine years. I left the Philippines to find a better future for my kids. I first went to China to work as a live in caregiver, only to flee because of an abusive situation. I used all my savings to come to Canada because I was told that Canada was a good place to build a life. I was able to find a sponsor family to help bring me here in 2017 and I worked and lived with them for a year. I wanted to improve my situation and I knew educating myself was the only way. I managed to complete a course for PSW, but I wanted a career change.
I had just started a new job at a medical company and my kids where finally here with me, when I applied to Anderson College for the Supply Chain and Logistics program. Though I enjoyed my job at the medical company I was reading the openings for other positions within the company and there were a few supply chain and logistic positions. Even though there would be challenges to face, such as time management with working fulltime and helping my girls with schoolwork, I was excited to begin my course.
After my first class I was so sure that I had made the right choice in choosing Anderson. Our first instructor Silvano was so enthusiastic and understanding, he reassured us that we were all in the right place to better ourselves. My classmates and I formed a tight bond where we all helped each other, whether we called each other or did online video calls to make sure everyone understood the current assignments or test prepping.
Even though I worked fulltime and am a single mom, Anderson College made it simple for me to balance everything. I was able to graduate with honors and I'm looking at opportunities in Alberta where my family will be moving. Thank you, Anderson College, for helping me show my kids that anything is possible.
Colin H. - HAMILTON - OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Going back to school wasn’t a difficult decision for me, as I have always been passionate about health and safety and have many years of experience; the Occupational Health and Safety program at Anderson College, was the right fit. The instructors speak with knowledge and prepare us for the real world. The best experience is when everyone helps each other to solve problems so that we can have a better understanding of the concept together. To those working in this field, remember that you will be the foundation, wherever you go, for health and safety. Believe in yourself and you will change lives.
My Story
Going back to school at my age wasn't too difficult a decision for me to make because I wanted to go into a program that I already had great work experiences within, and I had lots of passion for. The program I picked at Anderson College was the Occupational Health and Safety program. I have many years of experience in this field, and it has already changed my life. Being able to help co-workers, businesses, and the environment is the best thing that a person can do. Helping others to learn about health and safety and to be able to keep them safe while they’re working … that means something.
The Anderson staff member who was always there for me was Bradley Dedrick; he was my advisor. I remember talking to him on the phone a few times when my class had been moved to a different date. He did everything to keep me updated on the situation, which is more than I have to say about any of my previous college experiences. My whole family was there for me during this time. Especially my wife. She believes in me and that I can do anything when I put my mind to it.
The things I like about this program are when the instructors speak to us with knowledge and prepare us for the real world in this career. Also, I enjoy speaking about my past experiences with my fellow classmates. The best thing overall is when everyone helps each other out with the problems that we are dealing with so we can have a better understanding of the concept, together. Even though I have a hearing disability everyone treats me the same way they want to be treated.
When you are working in this field, always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings and don't be afraid to speak out about anything that deals with health and safety. Remember, you will be the foundation, wherever you go, for health and safety. Believe in yourself and you will change lives.

After obtaining a master’s in business administration (MBA) and gaining over two-years experience in the legal sector, I developed an interest in becoming a paralegal. Out of the five competitors I reviewed, I chose Anderson College; it was a great decision. Having access to top-notch instructors who are judges, lawyers, and paralegals working in the field and, participating in seminars and court visits, we are fully prepared for fieldwork, obtaining our license, and career success. Anderson College is contributing quality education to Canadian society, producing competitive graduates who serve Canadian society.
My name is Danish Hassan Malik, and I hold a masters in business administration (MBA). I have been working in the legal sector for more than two years, and my experiences developed my interest in becoming a paralegal. With an impressive and visible presence on social media, it did not take me long to discover Anderson College.
I applied and received an immediate email response, offering me the opportunity to schedule a connection with an admissions representative. After being convinced by the representative, I decided to visit the college, even though I was also considering other colleges for admission into their Paralegal program. Out of the five competitors, I chose Anderson College, as I had faith in their qualitative instructors.
Starting the Paralegal program at Anderson College was a great decision, as the quality of teaching is top-notch. In particular, I would like to mention Mr. Ian Bell, who has been a motivating instructor, full of knowledge and dedication in developing the skills and abilities of all scholars with his practical experience in the field as a paralegal. Additionally, having instructors from relevant fields makes the program even more convenient and familiar. We have access to top-of-the-line instructors who are judges, lawyers, and paralegals, working in the field and impart their knowledge and skills to us. Another major advantage of the program is the court visits and seminars, which allow us to learn and observe what is happening in the field and prepare for practical fieldwork after obtaining our license.
Overall, I must say that Anderson College is contributing quality education to Canadian society, producing competitive graduates who serve Canadian society to the best of their abilities and knowledge.

If it wasn't for my amazing, and brave, mom, I would have never known how fulfilling being a healthcare worker could be. I followed in her footsteps and am now enrolled in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at Anderson College. The instructors have been so kind and insightful; I appreciate all their hard work. It is because of their support, encouragement, compassion, and wisdom I have the confidence to take this journey. For aspiring students, “Never lose hope; remember that there are always opportunities available for you to achieve fulfillment.”
My Story
Studying to be a Personal Support Worker at Anderson College has been such a positive journey as it has shown me my purpose in life and what a fulfilling career I can have once I graduate.
If it wasn't for my amazing mom, who took the PSW program at Anderson College before me, I would never have known that being a healthcare worker could be so fulfilling. I chose the Personal Support program so that I could follow in my mom’s footsteps. She is the most important person to me, and I found it so brave of her to return to school despite the trials and challenges she has faced. I did not expect to be so impacted by studying to be a Personal Support Worker.
This program has guided me towards a bright new chapter that will spark a great career. I owe so much to the amazing staff who take the time out of their days to educate students like me. I would like to personally thank Carolyne M. Without her gentle and compassionate approach to teaching, I don't think I would have been prepared to take on this new chapter. She and the other instructors have been so kind and insightful throughout my experience, and I appreciate all their hard work. It is because of their support, encouragement, compassion, and wisdom I have the confidence to take this journey.
I would like to tell all future Anderson students – “Never lose hope; remember that there are always opportunities available for you to achieve fulfillment.”

As an international student, I was nervous that I would not pass the entrance exam to be able to attend Anderson College. I woke up in the morning and saw an email that I knew held the results of my exam. I closed my eyes first, took a deep breath, and told myself that I will accept whatever the result will be. Surprisingly, I passed the exam. From that day until I completed my program, I studied hard to make my parents proud. No words can express how thankful I am to Anderson College for allowing me to achieve my dream. I am a proud international student at Anderson College.
My Insights
I didn’t expect God’s plan, and this is where my journey begins. I am Eleiza Chan, and this is how Anderson College changed my life.
One day, I was thinking, “Will I be able to pass the Anderson College entrance exam?”. I had a lot of thoughts in my mind that day on what was going to happen, but I just told myself to stop thinking too much and that if it is for me, it will be for me, if not it won’t, and God will give me what my heart desires and I prayed for. To be honest, I cried after I took the exam to see if I could enrol in the Anderson College program. I thought within myself that I wasn't going to pass because I was hustling and rushing to answer every question. I had mixed emotions and was thinking that I will disappoint my parents.
I was left wondering whether I had passed the exam because I had not received a response three days after. I was even more nervous because I asked my friend who took the exam first, how long it took her to find out her result, and she said three days. So, I had already acknowledged to myself that I did not pass. Five days passed, and the school had not emailed me yet, so I concluded that I didn't pass.
I can still remember, on February 14, 2022, when I woke up in the morning, I saw an email that I knew held the results of my exam. I closed my eyes first, took a deep breath, and told myself that I will accept whatever the result will be. And surprisingly I passed the exam. I didn’t even expect the score I got.
From that day until I completed my program, I studied hard to make my parents proud. As I studied and worked, I didn’t mind being tired because all I wanted was to help and repay my parents’ sacrifices for me. This coming graduation, I want to give glory to God who never fails to guide me. Also, the diploma will be for my parents who keep supporting me throughout this journey. No words can express how thankful I am to Anderson College for allowing me to achieve my dream. I am a proud international student at Anderson College.

Eliza K. - LONDON - INTRA ORAL LEVEL I & II DENTAL ASSISTANT
After feeling unfulfilled in various jobs, I wanted a sense of purpose, stable employment, and a pathway to a fulfilling career. The Dental Assistant program at Anderson College included clinical rotations, lab work, and simulations, which helped me apply the theoretical concepts I learned to real-world scenarios. I was able to learn at my own pace and balance my studies with my other commitments, which was important to me. But above all this, the sense of community among the students and faculty at Anderson made me feel like I was part of a team. Anderson College opened doors for my career, and I’m proud to say that I have secured a job as a dental assistant.
My Insights
After feeling unfulfilled in various jobs, I wanted a sense of purpose, stable employment, and a pathway to further education. I decided to pursue a career in healthcare and looked into different careers before enrolling in the Dental Assistant program at Anderson College.
Studying was hard work, but I received support from staff such as Desiree, my second term teacher, who was so helpful when I asked for extra help during class, and family members such as my mom, who helped me stay positive during the long study days.
I appreciated the hands-on learning throughout the program and the practical experience that I gained. The program included clinical rotations, lab work, and simulations, which helped me apply the theoretical concepts I learned to real-world scenarios. I was able to learn at my own pace and balance my studies with my other commitments, which was important to me. More than that, though, the sense of community among the students and faculty at Anderson College made me feel like I was part of a team.
If I could pass on one thing I’ve learned, it’s that everyone should pursue their passions and invest in their education, regardless of their age or background. Learning is a lifelong process, and it can create opportunities you had never even thought possible. Anderson College opened doors for my career, and I’m proud to say that I have secured a job as a dental assistant.

Glaysalyn Apple B. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
I was born prematurely, at 7 months, and diagnosed with heart disease, scoliosis and had a hernia. This created incredible challenges for me to overcome in my life, from limitations in activities at school to bullying. But I’m a dreamer. After high school, my mother processed the papers for me to come to Canada. Once here, I needed to upgrade my skills and enrolled in adult education to complete a high school diploma valid in Canada. After that I found Anderson College. I began the Medical Office Administrator program, and when I finished Anderson helped me establish my career. I’m now working both as a safety coordinator and part-time in a clinic. I believe “There is no victory without struggle”. Thank you, Anderson, for creating the person who now stands before you.
My Story
Life can be full of problems, and challenges to be overcome. I am a dreamer. A dreamer who has high hopes and standards.
I was born prematurely, at 7 months, and diagnosed with heart disease, scoliosis and had a hernia. When I was 8 years old, I underwent surgery for my hernia. Thank God it was successful, but it was not the end of my struggles. A few years later, my family decided I should undergo open-heart surgery for my heart disease. This was a very dangerous procedure and traumatic experience, but (again, thank God) it was successful. Although the surgery was successful, the repercussions were such that they could potentially hinder my dreams.
When I was in school, as a child, I had a lot of limitations, especially in extra curricular activities like outdoor games, camp, and different events at school. I experienced bullying from my classmates because of my scoliosis, to the point that I was thinking I wanted to stop my studying. But my parents cheered me up, encouraged me to keep dreaming, and create a solid plan for my future. I actually ended up graduating from elementary school as a valedictorian and, later, in senior high school, with honors.
After I graduated senior high my mother decided to process my papers to come to Canada. After four years of waiting, I was finally able to move here and live with my mom. I wanted to attend college, but because the curriculum in my old school was different than here in Canada, I needed to enrol in adult education to receive my high school diploma. This enabled me to continue with my dream to go to college. When I had completed those courses, my mom’s friend told me about Anderson College.
I began the Medical Office Administrator program, and after I finished Anderson College helped me establish my career here in Canada. I was thrilled that I had so many opportunities open up for me in clinics, hospitals, and various different companies. I am now working in a factory as Safety Coordinator and, as of now, I am also working in a clinic part-time; both jobs pay me a good salary. I believe “There is no victory without struggle”. Thank you, Anderson, for creating the person who now stands before you.
Gohar G. - DOWNTOWN TORONTO - MEDICAL ESTHETICIAN
I left my homeland 12 years ago for a better life. Anderson College welcomed me as a student for the Medical Esthetician program, creating a bright prospect for my future endeavors. It became my compass to go the right direction on this path. During a dark time in human history, I experienced some of my happiest day because I was at Anderson; I am so grateful. I applied my passion, and the skills, care, and hard work I learned and today I am blessed to have “GG Esthetics” my own medical esthetics beauty clinic. I wish Anderson College to continue witnessing the success of their students as they flourish.
My Story
Tony Gaskins said, "If you don't build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs". This thought has always been my philosophy until one day I realized that instead of repeating this to myself, the best thing would be to put it into practice and experience it for myself.
I left my homeland 12 years ago and landed in this beautiful country for a better life. Little did I know that my hope for the future would not only be promising but would also be blessed with opportunities. I would be able to fulfil my life with work that my heart always desired.
While I was searching, Anderson College opened its doors to me and welcomed me as a student for the Medical Esthetician program, creating a bright prospect for my future endeavors. Paulo Coelho said, "When you want something, the whole universe conspires in order for you to achieve it.” Anderson became my alma mater as I achieved that goal. I had almost a year and a half period of the happiest days, during the worst time of in mankind’s history, which was called Covid-19. I am so grateful to the entire staff including my instructor Sarah-Ojeda, campus director Lynn Oliphant, student services admin Marjorie Cameron and financial aid officer Olga Tsyban. Plus, many more who invested their efforts and had their unique role in building my future career. Anderson College became my compass to go the right direction on this path.
Today I am blessed to have my own medical esthetics beauty clinic called “GG Esthetics”. I believe in beautifying people and making them happy. I make sure that every single person who leaves my clinic will feel that they received the white-glove treatment they deserved, and they feel their self-esteem rise. My success is my passion, hard work, care, and skills I received from my college. I hope every single student attending Anderson College feels this same way and believes in their potential. I wish Anderson College to continue witnessing the success of their students as they flourish even in the most competitive market. Good luck and lots of love to everyone who helped us to build our career path.

In my home country, I was a biology teacher. When I immigrated to Canada, I decided to improve my English and continue my educational journey in the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Anderson College.
Even though I was a teacher, I was always interested in physiotherapy and occupational therapy because I wanted to help people to recover from injuries and illness and go on to pursue their passions.
I knew that returning to school would be challenging, managing my home life with my husband and two children. But my husband was so supportive during this journey. When I had an exam or project to complete, he made sure that all the house chores were done, and our children were taken care of. Moreover, whenever I felt stressed, he would comfort me. I really appreciated the support of my husband during my studies!

Story:
As a result of the pandemic, choosing where to attend college required careful consideration of different factors. I talked to friends and family who had gone through the process, and I researched different schools online because in-person visits were limited. Ultimately, I decided to attend Anderson College.
The online class experience was a chance for me to explore new ways of learning, make friends, and learn about time management. It also provided an opportunity for self-discovery, allowing me to identify my strengths and ideal career path.
As with any significant change, navigating the new normal presented its own set of challenges. Balancing coursework and part-time jobs was difficult, but I made sure to prioritize both to ensure that neither suffered.
Attending Anderson College provided me with access to a wealth of resources and support. My instructor (especially Vinu Raj) served as mentors and advisors, helped me navigate my way through school and develop skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing. I had access to career services that assisted me in finding internships and job opportunities after graduation.

It was not always easy, but it was worth it. One of the most important lessons I learned is that it is okay if things do not work out as planned. There are always opportunities for improvement down the road, and perseverance is key to finding something that is better suited to our needs than our original plan.
Helie R. - NORTH YORK - INTRA ORAL LEVEL I & II DENTAL ASSISTANT
I told myself if I do not do it now, when? If I do not do it myself, who will? Then one day Anderson College changed everything. I can't believe I did it; I just recently graduated as a dental assistant! It’s never too late. Age is not a hindrance to being successful. Go live your dreams!
My Insights
“You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream” ~ C.S. Lewis.
I was hesitant when I went back to school because of my age. I even thought of quitting without even trying, but I told myself if I do not do it now, when? If I do not do it myself, who will? Then one day Anderson College changed everything. I can't believe I did it; I just recently graduated as a dental assistant!
Being in the dental world was my childhood dream, but with the poverty I faced, I couldn’t pursue it. Now, it is something that I can be proud of. It is a gift for myself and my family. I did this because of them, they are my inspiration. I had a great experience in this institution. Teachers were incredibly nice, and I had such supportive classmates.
Living in Canada now means having a decent job and being able provide for all the needs of my kids. Now I am working as a permanent dental assistant, and I can't thank Anderson College enough for pushing and guiding me in the pursuit of my dreams that I never thought it could happen.
This achievement is for the glory of God who gave me strength and protection. Without him, and the institution who provided immeasurable skills and knowledge, I wouldn’t be here right now.
It’s never too late. Age is not a hindrance to being successful. Go live your dreams!
Intisar I. - LONDON - MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/ASSISTANT
One of my dreams was to have a medical career in this wonderful country, but I had to leave my parents and family to come to Canada. I could not speak English well, but I never gave up. In one year, I finished my ESL classes and worked to save money for tuition. Then, I met Nicole at Anderson College, and she gave me hope, that I would be able to graduate from college and be ready for a career. Now, I’m working at LifeLabs and I love my job! Anderson College changed my life in a positive way and I’m grateful to all those who supported me.
My Story
It was really challenging for me when I came to Canada in 2018 and started my schooling journey. I had to leave my parents and family to settle down in Canada. I could not even speak English well when I arrived, but I never gave up on my passion and commitment to learning a new language.
One of my dreams was to have a medical career in this wonderful country. I put a lot of effort into finishing my ESL classes within one year and worked hard to be able to earn some money, so I could pay for my tuition, even before I registered for college.
I met Nicole at Anderson College, and she gave me hope, that I would be able to graduate from college and be ready for a career. I will never forget how the staff greeted us as students, helped and trained us so well during the courses. They prepared us in a professional way for our placements. They also motivated us to be confident when doing different duties and skills, for examples phlebotomy, ECGs, data entry etc. Now I am working at LifeLabs, and I really love my job.
I would like to say that Anderson College changed my life in a positive way, so I highly recommend Anderson College to everyone! Last but not least, I would like to mention that my family supported me during my studies which I will never forget. I appreciate all those who supported me throughout my studying journey and truly helped me to achieve my dreams.
Janette A. - North York - CARDIOLOGY TECHNOLOGY
I was as a physics teacher, but when my son needed tests run by a cardiology tech, my eyes were opened to a new career option. I had no health background, no guarantee this would work out, but I enrolled in Anderson College’s Cardiology Technology program. I was a new immigrant, a mature student, and a teacher for a long time, now I was a student, but my interest in the human body, especially the heart, increased day by day. After graduating I was hired full-time at a clinic then at Humber River Hospital. My heartfelt journey expanded further when I was accepted into medical school; I’m one year into my program. When I become a cardiologist, who knows, maybe Anderson College students will come to my clinic for practicum!
My Story
It was a different and exciting journey for me to start a health program at Anderson College because I had been a teacher for 10 years. More so my specialty was not related with health or cardiology. I was Googling for first aid tips to help my son as he was having seizures and I saw an Anderson College advertisement; I skipped it at first.
During the diagnosis of my son’s problem, we visited a cardiologist. While he was having an echocardiogram (ECG) and Holter testing, I thought to myself, as a physics teacher, “I teach these waves and they use them in health, how strange!” And then, right away I thought, “Why don’t I study that program?”
By the way, I had already paid my registration fee to another college for a program which is related to my specialty. I started searching about the program of Cardiology Technologist. I got an appointment with Jun and the day we met everything was clear in my mind. I was going to start a program, even though I had no idea whether I would be successful or not. The class start-day came, and I was so excited because I was returning to studentship days.
First of all, everything was so different and looked easy and hard at the same time. Easy to understand but hard to memorize everything. I won’t forget the day I passed the first quarterly exam. That day I said to myself, “OK, I believe I will do this job”. I attached great importance to all my feelings, because in those days I was a new immigrant in Canada, I was a mature student, I used to be a teacher for long time but now I was sitting at a desk, and I had classmates. More so Covid-19 started to spread all around the world, and we went to virtual learning which was likely the first time in Canada.
Every day, I learned a lot and kept studying hard. However, I worried about the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technology (CSCT) exam and was unsure about the working area. Thankfully our instructor or as we always called her, our Mother Heather was there and helped us to differentiate real life outside of our dreams. Her lectures about life kept us tight to studying hard and not giving up. They were unforgettable years.
During studying the Cardiology Technology program, my interest in the human body and especially in the heart increased day by day. Every day, I was more and more amazed at the structure and function of the heart. It was not easy to study that program while having no health background, but my interest kept me going and made me powerful. At the end of the hard-worked year, I successfully graduated with a good GPA score. After graduating, I was hired right away by a clinic as a full-time employee. While working there I was hired by Humber River Hospital.
My exciting journey and interest of the heart expanded when I looked toward becoming a cardiologist. I got accepted to medical school and I have almost finished the first year. When I become a cardiologist, who knows maybe Anderson College students will come to my clinic for practicum!
Jariel E. - YONGE EGLINTON - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
As a nurse who traveled and worked – as a surgical nurse in the Philippines and paramedic and industrial nurse in Saudi Arabi – I decided to pursue a career in Canada and found Anderson College. The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program was intensive, but the instructors were knowledgeable and supportive, and I graduated with confidence. I’m now able to provide care to people who need it the most, and it's a privilege to make a positive impact in their lives. This experience taught me to be resilient, never stop learning, and always have faith in myself. Anderson College will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope more people will be inspired to pursue their dreams.
My Story
As a Filipino nurse who worked in various countries, I never thought I would find myself at Anderson College in Canada. However, taking the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at Anderson was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I worked as a surgical nurse in the Philippines from 2011 to 2016 before working as a paramedic and industrial nurse in Saudi Arabia up until 2021. After working in different countries, I decided to pursue my career in Canada, where I discovered Anderson College.
I was initially hesitant to enroll in the PSW program, but I soon realized that it would teach me valuable skills that I hadn't learned before. Studying at Anderson College was a wonderful experience; it had a warm and welcoming community, and the faculty and staff genuinely care about their students. The PSW program was intensive, but the instructors were knowledgeable and supportive. I enjoyed the hands-on training, especially in long-term care facilities. It felt like I was making a difference in the lives of the residents, and it was fulfilling to see them happy.
After ten months, I graduated as a certified personal support worker. I was excited to start my new career in Canada, and I was fortunate enough to find a job as a private PSW in Tottenham in Tecumseth Ontario. The training I received at Anderson College prepared me well for my new role. I am now able to provide care to people who need it the most, and it's a privilege to be able to make a positive impact in their lives.
Thanks to Miss Amie Poquiz's guidance and support, I was able to graduate with confidence in my skills and abilities. She was my instructor and was an inspiring and detail-oriented teacher. Miss Poquiz had a way of making the lessons engaging and interactive, which made it easier for me to understand the concepts. I know that I wouldn't have achieved this without her help.
Taking a leap of faith is sometimes necessary to achieve our dreams. My experience at Anderson College taught me to be resilient, never stop learning, and always have faith in myself. Anderson College will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope that more people will be inspired to pursue their dreams, no matter how challenging it may seem.
Jeanine T. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/ASSISTANT
When I arrived in Canada, I wasn’t working at job I wanted, but it led to the opportunity I did. The client I was providing care for ended up in the hospital and while there I became inspired to pursue a career as a medical laboratory technician; Anderson College helped me reach my goals. Balancing full-time work and studies was not always easy but with the support of Anderson’s instructors and staff I was able to push on. Selecting Anderson College as my school helped me achieve my “Canadian Dream”.
My Insights
Ten years ago, I would not have thought that 30-year-old me would be receiving her Canadian citizenship and graduating from Anderson College after pursuing a career as a medical lab technician, while also working full time in a hospital. People always talk about the “American dream”, and here I am, living my own version of my “Canadian dream”. If you were to ask me, “How did Anderson College change my life?”, the answer is simple, Anderson College helped me live out that Canadian dream. The answer, though simple, holds more meaning than a four-hundred-word essay can express, but alas, here we go.
I pursued a career in hotel and restaurant management in the Philippines, and when I finally got to Canada, that was not the job I was looking for. I ended up working as a personal caregiver for an elderly woman up until she had passed, which is what brought me to Sunnybrook Hospital. But through Sunnybrook, I was inspired to pursue a path as a medical lab technician, and Anderson College helped me reach my goals.
Firstly, one of the first classes we took was in relation to creating an effective and coherent resume. Although we weren’t getting graded for our resumes, the lesson that the instructors led at Anderson College ultimately helped me create better resumes that will help me launch my career. In addition, it was not always easy balancing full time work with full time studies, and truthfully, there were many times I wanted to give up. However, it was through the support of the instructors and staff at Anderson that ultimately helped me push on. Often, the professors and staff would offer words of encouragement to persevere.
In retrospect, I know that it is through selecting Anderson College as my school that helped me achieve my goals, and I would not have been able to live out my Canadian dream had I gone to another school.

Jessie T. - WINDSOR - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
I always wanted to work in healthcare. I studied the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at Anderson College, so that I could care for others the way the PSWs cared for my grandparents. Anderson helped me pursue my dream of helping others. I never liked school before, but I really enjoyed Anderson, the PSW program and the hands-on learning. The teachers at Anderson weren’t just regular teachers to me, they were my inspiration; I want to be as amazing as they are. I will forever be grateful to Anderson College for changing my life and getting me on the path to doing something I love.
Growing up I knew I wanted to be in healthcare. I went through the nursing program right out of high school, but after both of my grandfathers got sick, I watched personal support workers (PSWs) support them and my family through it all. After my grandfather passed, I knew that I wanted to become a PSW to help other family’s grandparents the way I wish I could have helped mine. With the knowledge I have today, I am now able to help my other grandfather that is currently in a home due to Alzheimer's disease.
Anderson College helped me pursue my dream of helping others. There were times that I thought to myself, “I can't do it”, but the teachers at Anderson College always had my back and believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. The teachers actually listened to every question and answered with a full explanation without hesitation, which made understanding everything that much easier. I've never enjoyed going to school before attending Anderson College. Turns out with the right course and teaching mechanisms attending classes aren't as bad as I thought. I really enjoyed the PSW program at Anderson College due to the amount of hands-on learning provided and reviews given after every chapter, which helped me remember important points. In my past college experiences there weren't reviews provided, therefore it was harder to remember everything needed for the end-of-year exam.
Due to classes being mostly online the only way to communicate with teachers was via email. I've had teachers in the past that would not respond outside of class time, but the teachers at Anderson College always made sure that they were available even after class. The teachers always took students’ everyday life issues into consideration and provided help if necessary. These teachers weren’t just regular teachers to me, they were my inspiration. I looked up to them and was inspired to be as amazing as they are.
Without Anderson College I would not be where I am or be as proud of myself as I am today. I will forever be extremely grateful to Anderson College for changing my life, providing me with the help to get on the path that I wanted and giving me the opportunity to do something I enjoy and love doing.
Jose Fausto C. - DOWNTOWN TORONTO - SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS
I'm a 56-year-old immigrant with a few dreams, including starting a new career. I believe that without effort, there is no learning, without courage there is no progress and that dreaming big is worth a lot. So, I enrolled in Supply Chain and Logistics at Anderson College. I translated all my course work to Portuguese, studied long hours, graduated with honours and at my practicum placement, IKEA, I was promoted to the leader of the goods flow team, with a very good salary.
My Story
I'm José Fausto. I majored in Supply Chain and Logistics and graduated with honours; I'm a 56-year-old immigrant with a few dreams, including starting a new career. A friend referred me to Anderson College, and it was here at Anderson College that I was able to turn my dream into reality.
I didn't feel confident with the English language, so to make sure I understood the classes, I translated into Portuguese (my language) all the course content, the books and the classes I recorded. I studied four hours in class and another six to eight hours on my own.
I believe that without effort, there is no learning, without courage there is no progress and that dreaming big is worth a lot.
New students, when you get discouraged think; “If a 56-year-old man can do it, I can!” Certainly, you can! Anderson College faculty and staff encouraged and supported me throughout my diploma studies.
I completed the course in February 2023. Thanks to my practicum, that Anderson College arranged for me, I was promoted to the leader of the goods flow team at IKEA, with a very good salary.
I am so grateful to my wife, children and grandchildren for their support, my instructors for their patience and kindness, and to all the staff at Anderson College, my Alma Mater.
Joseph V. - YONGE EGLINTON - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER-HYBRID
I wanted to make the switch from my sales and marketing career to caring for seniors but couldn't find the right fit, until Anderson College came along. My peers were a healthy mix of all ages and immigrants like me, and this down-to-earth relatability helped me overcome my fears about going back to school; Anderson made it all more like an ‘experience’. From the staff who made all interactions run so smoothly, to my instructor who gave us honest insight into the responsibilities of becoming a personal support worker, this experience changed my whole outlook on the caregiving sector. Thank you, Anderson College.
My Insights
You never know when you're changing professions as an adult, and trying to pursue an unfulfilled passion, how it will pan out. It can change your life for the better and make you feel content and fulfilled, or it can go south really fast exposing all your fears and insecurities. Coming from a sales and marketing background, I wanted to make the switch to caring for seniors but couldn't find the right fit, until Anderson College came along. The Yonge & Eglinton campus to be exact. You never want an academic choice to feel like a step in the wrong direction, especially as an adult when responsibilities are at an all-time high, but my peers were a healthy mix of all ages and immigrants like me. This down-to-earth relatability helped me come to the decision.
My first point of interaction was with Keegan, the Admissions Advisor. It continued smoothly from there with Penny, the Student Services Coordinator and Xming, the Placement Coordinator, who all made my initial interactions with Anderson College seamless. It's truly ironic what defined my choice to go to Anderson College, because as much as I was scared about going back to school again, Anderson made it more like an experience.
Last, but not least, my instructor, Ms. Amelia must be mentioned in the highest regard as she went above and beyond what was required of an instructor giving us the inside track in a truly honest way. She was the type of teacher who made sure that we were by no means misled to the challenges of becoming a PSW and that we understood that becoming a PSW was a serious endeavour, and we weren't just choosing it because it was in a higher pay scale.
This experience has certainly changed my whole outlook on the caregiving sector and Anderson College has proved to be the appropriate conduit for that lesson. Thank you, Anderson College.
June D. S. - NORTH YORK - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER-HYBRID
Anderson College helped me to achieve my goals in life, for example finishing college, helping others, helping senior citizens, and sick people by providing them with good care. Because of Anderson College, I even saved someone’s life while I was working on placement! The Personal Support Worker program was great and now I won't be scared to help other people in need and apply all that I learned. Thank you, Anderson College!
My Insights
Graduating from the Personal Support Worker program at Anderson College changed my life. It helped me to achieve my goals in life, for example finishing college, helping others, helping senior citizens, and helping sick people by providing them with good care. I experienced saving one client’s life during my placement. One of our clients choked on food when he was feeding himself. Our nurse at the time panicked because he wouldn’t respond and was unconscious. I stood up right away and put my gloves on and opened his mouth, I tried to remove the food in his mouth, but nothing came out. I decided to give him 5 back blows and then his food came out and he began to be responsive and awake. Because of Anderson College, I save someone’s life! I also started taking care of my sick and very old grandmother back home.
I learned how to respond to different medical issues, for example giving proper CPR and first aid, how to deal with people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and how to properly feed and bath the elderly with care. Anderson College is a very good and great college, and I won't be scared to help other people in need and apply all the stuff I learned from my course at the North York campus. Thank you so much Anderson College, I really appreciated all of you.
Kanneth I. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
I got the very last spot in the Medical Office Administrator program in our batch and then the pandemic hit, and we were in lockdown. As a frontline worker I experienced incredible mental and physical stress and I felt like I was on the edge, ready to give up my studies. But my two daughters were very supportive and kept telling me I was their inspiration. I graduated with honours and have a position now at Humber River Hospital as a clerical associate. Anderson College has had a big impact on my life, and I am able to inspire others now to do the same; my daughter is currently enrolled at Anderson College!
My Story
2020 was an unforgettable year for me because it was a time when my faith, perseverance, self-confidence, patience, and abilities were tested alongside my mental and physical health. Being a wife, mother, worker, and student all at the same is not a piece of cake. I struggled but never gave up. I worked hard and studied harder and thank God I survived and successfully finished my Medical Office Administrator (MOA) program, with honours.
I used to be content with what I had and who I was before I became a part of the Anderson College family. I researched my options and called the admissions team and inquired about the process. Luckily, I connected with the amazing staff at Anderson and Jun helped me to understand the opportunities that going back to school would offer, empowering me to have a better career and greater success in the future. Both Jun and Jonah gave their all in helping me prepare and submit my application, and I got accepted!
I want to mention what this path has meant for me, as I got the very last spot in the MOA program in our batch. The pandemic hit and suddenly we needed to stay home and go out for essential purposes only. As a frontline worker I experienced incredible mental and physical stress and I felt like I was on the edge, ready to give up my studies. But my two daughters were very supportive. We studied together and they kept telling me I was their inspiration. Anderson staff helped me find a better place to do my placement and I landed at Yonge-Sheppard Medical Centre. The doctors and staff were very nice specially Connie. She gave me an excellent evaluation and even offered to be my professional reference if needed.
Both my excellent performance from school and placement are my passport to a land in greener pastures. I got a position at Humber River Hospital. I went from being a housekeeper to clerical associate. Anderson has had a big impact on my life, and I am able to inspire others to do the same. My daughter is now currently enrolled at Anderson College.
No matter how big the barriers are, just focus on the light that is at the end of the tunnel. Always be positive and have faith in everything you do. For me, it has made all the difference.
Karleen R. - NORTH YORK - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
I was a math teacher in Jamaica before I immigrated to Canada. At first, I upgraded my skills and worked in early-childhood education, but then the pandemic hit. In my search to learn more about my father’s Alzheimer's disease, I found Anderson College and the Personal Support Worker-Hybrid program. I knew nothing of computers, but they assured me the Anderson family would see me through. They certainly did. I learned with the patience of my teacher and help of my son. After passing my exams, I trained at a retirement home and now am happily employed as a PSW, thanks to the amazing people at Anderson College!
My Story
My name is Karleen Mecteau. I was a mathematics teacher in Jamaica. After immigrating to Canada, my son was having trouble understanding the different types of math. He would get the answers right, but his teacher wanted him to do it the ‘Canadian’ way. So, I went to Frontier College to learn how to teach it that way. After leaving that college, I went to Mothercraft to become an early-childhood teacher. But just after graduating, COVID-19 hit.
One day, while I was at home during the pandemic, I called my dad to check on him, but he didn't even recognize my voice. I knew he had Alzheimer's disease, but I had no idea what that was like. While searching on Google for a school where I could learn more about dementia and Alzheimer's, I found Anderson College. I didn't hesitate and called to ask about their program. The lady who answered was very kind and polite. She told me about the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program.
Honestly, I didn't know how this would change my life, but when she mentioned that it would be a hybrid program, I was delighted. I was very interested in giving it a try, but I am not good with computers, so I was worried that I had made a mistake. Miss Jungsoo Kim told me that it wouldn't be hard, and that the Anderson family would see me through, and they certainly did.
I spoke to my teacher, Ms. Margie Sadie, and I couldn't believe how patient she was with my not knowing anything about how to use a laptop or computer. Luckily too, when it was time for assignments, I had my son to help me login, find assignments and log out, but I learned. After successfully passing all my exams, I was sent to a retirement home for training. It was an amazing experience because I got the opportunity to see and understand what my dad was going through.
Now, I am a graduate and a professional personal support worker. I enjoy my job so much, and I have to say a big thank you to the amazing people at Anderson College who took the time to help me, and others achieve our goals. Now, I can say, I am happily employed!
Katherine T. - WINDSOR - CHILD & YOUTH CARE WITH ADDICTIONS SUPPORT WORKER
Anderson College has been an experience of a lifetime. My teachers and classmates became a second family to me; they helped me find my strengths, along with coping strategies and techniques to implement in my personal relationships. I have gained the confidence to apply my skills in a professional work environment. Anderson College has helped me enhance my knowledge to pursue my goals in my career and I count myself fortunate to have been able to go through this life changing experience.
My Story
Anderson College has been an experience of a lifetime. At first, I decided to go back to school because I was miserable working a full-time job for a minimum wage income. I saw an ad on Facebook for Anderson College and was drawn to it.
My teachers and classmates became a second family to me, they helped bring me up and overcome my fears and trauma. They helped me find my strengths along with coping strategies and techniques to implement in my personal relationships. None of this would be possible without my teacher, Liz Atkinson. She has many years of experience in the field, her unique teaching approach gave me the confidence to apply myself and succeed in my career. I have learned so much from her about my program, and about myself.
The Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker program has expanded my knowledge in mental health, trauma, addictions, child and adult development, family dynamics, pathologies, cultural diversities, and much more! I have gained the confidence to apply my skills in a professional work environment.
Anderson College has helped me enhance my knowledge to pursue my goals in my career and I count myself fortunate to have been able to go through this life changing experience.
Kathleen G. - DOWNTOWN TORONTO- OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
I feel like I lived the typical, sad, growing-up story – divorce, abuse, bullying, struggling with confidence. I was traumatized and didn’t know it. I dropped out of school nine times, and every year I tried to return, without success, feeling defeated. I knew getting a diploma would be impossible while working 24/7, so I had to make some tough choices. I went back and got my high school diploma in 2020. After working for a time, in a place I knew was in dire need of an occupational health and safety program, I enrolled at Anderson College. I want others to know that no matter what life throws at you, if you work hard without giving up, you can get there with dignity and self-respect knowing you overcame life’s challenges.
My Story
I feel like this is the typical sad story about growing up, having divorced parents, parental abuse and struggling with confidence. In grade school, I had teachers who passed me, so they didn't need to deal with my dyslexia. I was picked on and beaten up by students when I attended a high school in Burlington. During my first year of grade nine, a shooter entered the building and shot three students; I was in the washroom and walked out right in the middle of it. I proceeded as if nothing had happened, but I was traumatized and did not know it. I dropped out of school nine times, and every year I tried to return without success, feeling defeated.
When I was 25, I started in the disaster restoration industry, helping people who dealt with loss. I worked harder than most because I was among the few women in the industry. Over time, I became a mould-certified specialist until I wanted to proceed further into my career, and an employer threw my ‘nonexistent diploma’ in my face. I knew getting a diploma would be impossible while working 24/7, so I had to make some tough choices.
In 2019, at the age of 44, I went back to high school and got that diploma in 2020, without a graduation because of Covid-19 shutting the world down. I was still confused about who I wanted to be, but I was convinced I wanted to continue and gain a college diploma. I worked in a production bakery with refugees and immigrants new to Canada. I knew most of them knew nothing about safety and chemical use and this bothered me. That is when I decided I there was an occupational health and safety program needed. So, in 2022, I enrolled in this program at Anderson College and met our instructor, Hamy Muzaffar. I was impressed by having one of the best instructors I have ever learned from. I overcame my fear of presenting in front of people because of his methods.
One year later, I am excited about my career path. I want others to know that no matter what life throws at you, if you work hard without giving up, you can get there with dignity and self-respect, knowing you overcame life's challenges and are still willing to learn, daily.
Katie A. - BRANTFORD - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
As a divorced mom of four young children, I began my journey at Anderson College with trepidation. But after the pandemic, I felt empathy for the struggles our long-term care facilities faced and I wanted to help, and to support my family – so, I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program. Anderson had flexible schedules, an online option, and support that comforted me. The experience I had with the knowledgeable instructors was stellar, as they shared advice and tricks of the trade. To say that Anderson College changed my life is an understatement; I accomplished more then I ever thought possible, and I am excited for my bright future.
My Story
As a divorced mom of four young children, I began my journey at Anderson College with trepidation and a healthy dose of fear. The logistics of completing a college program and still being a present and involved mom seemed impossible.
The staff at Anderson College starting with admissions and financial aid were so helpful and supportive in finding me the schedule and assistance that worked for me and my family. They helped me navigate OSAP and complete the paperwork required. A comforting aspect about beginning my journey at Anderson was the support that was available, by phone call or email.
I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program because during the pandemic, I felt great empathy for the struggles our long-term care facilities were experiencing. I wanted to contribute to others and build a successful career to support my family.
Anderson College fit the bill with the support systems they had available and flexible scheduling, including an online option. They provided a hybrid model of training; we did the academic learning online and practical learning with our instructors on campus. The experience I had with the instructors was stellar, they were so knowledgeable and shared advice and tricks of the trade. Their experience in the medical field and as instructors was invaluable to myself and my classmates. They gave clear and realistic expectations to help set us up for success.
As I reach the end of my PSW program, I feel confident and prepared to start my placement. I know the staff and instructors are available with any concerns I may have. I am excited to start on the next part of my journey and feel optimistic about future employment opportunities. Anderson College staff is invested in the success of their students, even years after graduation. The college helps with resume building and interview skills, which I feel is something you don’t get with public colleges.
To say that Anderson College has changed my life is an understatement, in the course of a year I have challenged myself and accomplished more then I ever thought possible. Has it been difficult? Yes, but I have not been alone on this journey. Support and encouragement have been readily available, and I am excited for my bright future.
Katrina M. - WINDSOR - CHILD & YOUTH CARE WITH ADDICTIONS SUPPORT WORKER
At the beginning of my recovery journey, I knew I wanted to do something with my life that would benefit me. I chose the Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker program because my dream is to work with youth and adults suffering with the illness of addiction. The program was life changing for me because of the unconditional love and support I received from my instructor and classmates. I finally feel important, like I achieved greatness – striving while being in recovery, being a single mother, and finally getting this professional career and title. Thank you, Anderson College, my instructor, and my classmates for making it all possible.
My Story
Reflecting on how Anderson College has changed my life brings me so much joy. At the beginning of my recovery journey, I knew I wanted to do something with my life that would benefit me, keep me busy and make me happy. The best feeling in the world is knowing that you’re accomplishing something important.
I chose the Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker program at the Windsor campus because my dream is to work with youth and adults suffering with the illness of addiction. Learning about the rest was just a bonus for me, especially because when I was starting the program, I was pregnant with my first child. Going through the program allowed me to mix my education with my past experiences.
The program was life changing for me because of the unconditional love and support I received from my instructor and classmates. Despite coming from different backgrounds, we clicked so deeply that it made us help and support each other so we could succeed together.
I struggled with my memory after an overdose during my active addiction, which made even simple tasks a challenge. Being pregnant and knowing I would have to do everything on my own was also daunting. My instructor helped me in ways I’ll never forget. I’ll never forget the encouragements, so I wouldn’t give up, the tears and hugs, and countless emails. Would I have been able to follow my dreams if not for the people who decided to have similar dreams as me, and the instructor who decided to come teach that program had not started just before I signed up? I’m not so sure.
I also made a lifelong friend. Someone who still helps and supports me with things every day, who bakes me cakes for my birthday and spoils my daughter. If it wasn’t for the love I received in that school, there’s a possibility I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I learned so much. I finally feel important, like I achieved greatness – striving while being in recovery, being a single mother, and finally getting the title Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker. Thank you, Anderson College, my instructor, and my classmates for making it possible and creating an everlasting change in my life!

When I learned that Anderson College had introduced a new program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, I was overjoyed because I had been working hard towards meeting all the educational requirements at Cambrian College for a year prior. The first person I came into contact with was Jun Yang, an admissions advisor and a wonderful, kind, and supportive person who I now consider a friend. Jun was very attentive and made me feel like I belonged at Anderson College. She successfully guided me through the whole enrollment process and connected me with Jonah who helped me with the financial aspect of my education.
I worked tirelessly to finally say that I am enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Anderson College. I thank Anderson College and God for the opportunity to learn and show the world how this institution has changed my life.
Kiel R. - DOWNTOWN TORONTO - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
After losing my job of eight years, I thought my life was over, until I saw (and followed) a ‘sign’, a student in scrubs at the train station. The logo read “Anderson College”; turned out, this was my rainbow after the rain. I had a long-held desire to be a nurse and the Personal Support Worker program would be a start. I knew this could put my career back on the right path and, at the end, Anderson College proved me right. My journey was not easy, my wife worked two jobs to support me and our one-year-old son, but Anderson made my dreams, our dreams, possible. Now I work full time where I did my practicum. For anyone losing hope, look for your rainbow here; Anderson College will be there handing you that pot of gold you were searching for.
My Story
Let me start by saying, “There is always a rainbow after the rain”, which is very true after what I have experienced for the past four years.
After getting laid-off from a job which I devoted my life to for a good eight years, I thought my life reached its end, which left me clueless as to where I was heading next. But something happened, I don’t know what to call it, people may say it’s luck or destiny, but I call it my blessed rainbow. As I was in the subway waiting for my train, I saw a student wearing blue scrubs with a black detailed design. I got intrigued and followed him trying to get a glimpse of what the logo said. It said “Anderson College”, and that’s how my journey started.
I may have lost my job, but an opportunity was given to me to go back to school and pursue my long-desired career in nursing; but this time I would take the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program first and start from there. I knew with this decision I could put my career back on the right path and, at the end, Anderson College proved me right. My onboarding was smooth sailing, thanks to Betanya and the rest of the team. But I give my greatest gratitude to Miss Iam Ligacion (my instructor), who unselfishly imparted herself to us and equipped us with the knowledge and necessary skills to face the real world after completing the program.
I also give credit to my wife who sacrificed a lot to make my going back to school possible; she worked two jobs to support me and our one-year-old son, of which I’m forever grateful.
My journey was not easy, but Anderson College made it a joyful, meaningful and a fruitful one. Thanks also to my classmates; it was fun learning alongside with you guys. I am what I am now because of Anderson College; they made my dreams possible. Now, I’m employed full time at the nursing home where I did my practicum, enjoying the fruits of my labor through the guidance of Anderson College. They put the rainbow back in my life.
For anyone looking for a direction and losing hope, try to look for your own rainbow. You will be surprised at the end of it, Anderson College will be there handing you the pot of gold you’ve been searching for.

The innovative teaching methods helped me, and everyone in the group, stay focused. Ms. Laurie, Ms. Mitra, and Ms. Fely Grace all supported and motivated me to develop a positive mindset to become a good and knowledgeable PSW with a heart!
As I complete my course, I hold my head up high, knowing that the mental nourishment Anderson College provided me with has equipped me to achieve my goals. Anderson College has been my backbone throughout my journey, and I am grateful for their support.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Elizabeth Evangelista for her unwavering guidance and support. I am a living testament that Anderson College can truly change lives, and I will forever be grateful for the knowledge, skills, and support that I received during my time there.

I learned that Anderson College has helped and trained more than 100,000 students over its 137-year history, witnessing those students’ careers blossom; I told myself I wanted to be a product of this institution. My admissions advisor made the process hassle free. The faculty and teachers were my go-to support system, and the training in cover-letter writing, designing a resume for Canada, and interviewing, had a huge impact on my success. It was a great privilege to learn from an institution that has such high-quality programs. My career as a PSW has just begun but it really started the moment I became a part of Anderson College as a student.
My Story
Each one of us has a dream that we pray for, hope for, and want to achieve as soon as possible. For me, my Canadian dream came true through Anderson College. Before coming to this college, I tried job searching for five long years. I researched and asked random people how I could come to Canada, but to no avail. Until I made up my mind up and decided to take the path of a student.
I learned that Anderson College has helped and trained more than 100,000 students over its 137-year history, witnessing those students’ careers blossom; I told myself I wanted to be a product of this institution. So, I reached out to Miss Jun Yang (my admissions advisor) who, from the start of my application process, made sure this was a hassle-free experience for me.
Launching my career as a personal support worker (PSW) here in Canada needed the full support from my family. I also made friends with my classmates along the way. The school faculty and teachers were my go-to support system during the times when I was balancing work, study and practicum, the hands-on lab training, four months in the nursing home, and my long-term facility experience. The support training on how to make cover letters and design a resume for Canada, and interview coaching, had a huge impact on my ability to develop my PSW career.
I am not just a student who gained knowledge through online classes and hands-on demonstrations. I was also able to apply all the learning, instill the values and implement ideal ways of taking care of clients during my practicum and will use this in the years to come. My career as a PSW has just begun but it really started the moment I became a part of Anderson College as a student.
In sum, I am thankful to Anderson College, its faculty, and its instructors. It was a great privilege to learn from an institution that has such high-quality programs. This led to my being able to find a job before my program even ended, and I am already PSW certified in Ontario, Canada.
After all the information I so easily spilled forth, no doubt I’m not the only proud Anderson College student celebrating graduating and their experience; I’ll bet there are many more.

I knew it was a turning point when I signed a study contract with Anderson College. Anderson has rigorous requirements for students, and they must study hard to pass the exam. This is precisely what I wanted – to master technology and become a professional. This would mean I could not so easily be replaced at my job by anyone, in the future! The positive attitude and encouragement from Anderson College teachers brightened my days! They repeatedly explained the main points to us, using videos, instruments, and even some funny examples. I also learned from my lovely classmates. I still remember all of it vividly, as if it were yesterday. I had a wonderful journey at Anderson College. Thank you, with all my heart!
My Story
Start the Adventure and Meet a Better You!
I knew it was a turning point when I signed a study contract with Anderson College 12 months ago. Now, I look at my certificate issued on January 27th - that happens to be my birthday! I used one year to create my better self!
I immigrated to Canada two years ago and worked as a clinic receptionist. Although I worked hard, I always lost the job because the boss could always find someone for a lower salary. I realized that I needed to learn skills to gain a foothold in Canada. Anderson College has rigorous requirements for students, and they must study hard to pass the exam. This is precisely what I wanted – to master technology and become a professional. This would mean I could not so easily be replaced at my job by anyone, in the future!
Without a medical background, it was challenging to start my dental assistant courses. I had to pre-read the lessons, write down the main points, and reread the book. I told the class, "I am so sorry, guys. I always have so many questions to ask and take up so much time." My instructor, Dr. Chandra, replied, "Don't say that. Asking questions is a way of learning, and maybe other students have the same questions you do". I was so lucky to meet the conscientious, responsible, and excellent teachers at Anderson College. They repeatedly explained the main points to us, using videos, instruments, and even some funny examples. I still remember when one of my classmates compared the curved design of one of the instruments on the handpiece to another instructor’s big belly. We laughed and learned the characteristics of various handpieces in that moment of laughter. There was a quiz and I scored 100%. Dr. Raymond wrote, "Keep up the good work!" The positive attitude and encouragement from Anderson College teachers brightened my days!
I not only learned from my instructors but also from my lovely classmates! We studied, discussed, reviewed, and dealt with exams one after another. Those tense study moments, those happy chatting times during the lunch break, their lovely smiling faces, the moment when we hugged and celebrated after passing the final exam – I still remember all of it vividly, as if it were yesterday. “Today is not easy. Tomorrow is more difficult. But the day after tomorrow will be wonderful!” (Anonymous) I had a wonderful journey at Anderson College. Thank you with all my heart!”

I always knew I wanted to go to a postsecondary school. I looked into Anderson College and the Intra Oral Dental Assistant (IODA) program and took a tour around the school; it was the push I needed to decide what I would do with my life. After three weeks of placement, I was offered a full-time job, and I have been accepted into a dental hygiene program! Thanks to Anderson college I was the first person in my family to graduate from a postsecondary school. My advice? “Take the jump and apply; you will not regret the time you spend here, and the staff will do everything in their power to help you succeed.”
My Story
I always knew I wanted to go to a postsecondary school, but I had no clue what area of study to focus on. I saw an ad for Anderson College and decided to look into it. After asking for more information about the Intra Oral Dental Assistant (IODA) program, I received a call from Abby inviting me to come in, talk with her about the program and take a tour around the school. It was the push I needed to decide what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I applied and was accepted into the program. At the time, I knew this was a very in-demand field so I knew it would be a great idea and there was lots of room for furthering my career after graduation.
During my time at Anderson, and even after I graduated, Jackie Sage was always there pushing me to do better and supporting me. She sent out extra study material for the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) exam and was always there to answer any questions. After three weeks of placement, I was offered a full-time job as a chair side assistant to the head doctor at my office. I currently still work there with my doctor and have been accepted into a dental hygiene program in September of this year!
Thanks to Anderson college I was the first person in my family to graduate from a postsecondary school and the support I received gave me the courage to go back to school and further my career in my field of study. After completing my program, I did not face any challenges finding a job. In fact, I received several offers from LifeLabs, Pharma Medica, and Enhance Care Clinic. This ease was due in large part to the fact that Anderson College has amazing instructors who thoroughly guide students, ensuring they receive the knowledge and practical skills required for real life.
During my journey, Dr. Rafik assisted me with my placement and provided me with the best guidelines and recommendations on how to work successfully within a hospital setting. Throughout my program, my instructor Ms. Simona was extremely patient despite all the challenges of having to conduct virtual classes. She managed to share her knowledge effectively and with passion. In addition, my instructor Mr. Tonmoy inspired me to learn numerous skills in phlebotomy, utilizing interactive techniques during the practical sessions. Beyond clinical skills, I learned how to write a resume and develop my writing, communications, and interview skills through workshops. Anderson College’s staff were also wonderfully supportive. The finance department guided me through the OSAP application process, which enabled me to support my financial needs. The student services department was helpful, from the enrollment process all the way to giving me my diploma. Therefore, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all my instructors who guided me throughout this journey, and the staff who were consistently there to assist with my needs.

As a recovering addict with mental health challenges, I was worried about how my future was going to turn out, but then I was given the opportunity of a lifetime – the Personal Support Worker Challenge funding. I’m weeks away from graduating with honours; I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, I love the PSW field I’m in, and none of it would have been possible without Anderson College and the faculty. Overall, an amazing experience!
My Insights
This last September in 2022, I had the opportunity of a lifetime; I was accepted into Anderson College for the Personal Support Worker program at the Windsor location. As a recovering addict with mental health challenges, I was worried about how my future was going to turn out, so when given this opportunity to receive the PSW Challenge Fund support, I began my journey at Anderson.
I am only weeks away from completing my placement and graduating from the program, and I am very proud of what I've accomplished. I am graduating with honours; I absolutely love the field I am in and none of it would have been able to happen without Anderson and the faculty. Thanks to my amazing teacher Mrs. Balkwill, I was prepared for placement and have the knowledge and skills to grow in this field. I believe that it is only going to get better after I graduate and go into the workforce. Anderson college was flexible, well located in the city, and just an overall amazing experience, I'd like to congratulate all my peers and to wish any future students the best of luck.
My advice to the future students would be this: Don't allow fear to control your behaviours, replace fear with hope, come to the classes and take in the knowledge the teachers have to offer and I guarantee you will succeed in your field.
Mary Joy Agnes E. - NORTH YORK - MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
When I was in the Philippines, I always dreamed of studying in the medical field again, so I chose the Medical Office Administrator program. The Anderson College community and staff are so supportive; I ended up loving the course so much. I also knew, in going back to school, that I could shorten the process to gain my permanent residency. This will open the door to a new chapter in my life as I’ll be able to work in hospitals and clinics as a medical office administrator here in Canada. Age should not be a hindrance to continue your education, nor should your status and situation stop you from doing what you love to do and becoming who you want to become.
My Insights
I started studying again because I didn’t have enough education to proceed and apply for my permanent residency (PR) here in Canada. When I was in the Philippines, I always dreamed of studying in the medical field again.
So, I chose the Medical Office Administrator (MOA) program, as I love to do scheduling and office work that is related to science and health. For me, it’s a very interesting course to gain an understanding in science and health and to become familiar with medical terms, learning different kinds of medical conditions, which help me be aware even in my own health.
When I chose this program, I knew I could shorten the process to gain my PR, because I am now qualified to apply. This opens a new chapter of my life as a resident; I’m now able to work in hospitals and clinics as a medical office administrator. Miss Farrah Riyahi played a big role in my studies, by helping me understand and learn more about this course. She is good, patient, and always kind.
My sister supported me emotionally which helped me finish the course. When I started school, I remember I was crying in front of my computer and telling her that I don’t want to continue. I asked her to call my admissions advisor to change my course because it was too hard for me to do online classes. She kept telling me that I would be fine, that I could do it. Yes, she was right. Later, I ended up loving the course so much and enjoyed it right up until I graduated.
Anderson College helped me advance my career in the medical field and opened so many opportunities for me to experience working in a clinic. I help patients book their appointments and make them happy and satisfied with my service. It’s a fulfilling job as a medical worker seeing them leave the clinic feeling grateful and cared for. The Anderson community and staff are helpful, especially when you feel that you’re in trouble; they really did their best to assist me when I couldn’t join one of my exams. Studying at Anderson College gave me the opportunity to process my papers faster, to be qualified for my PR here in Canada. For me, age is not a hindrance to continue your education, nor should your status and situation stop you from doing what you love to do and becoming who you want to become in life.
Mary K. - KITCHENER - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
At 59, when I told my family I was going to Anderson College to retrain for a healthcare career as a personal support worker (PSW), in the middle of a pandemic, I was met with some skepticism; but going back to school was challenging and empowering. Anderson’s high-quality instruction coupled with compassionate care allowed me to develop my skills, build my confidence, complete a placement that led to full-time employment and even face my ailing mother’s health with a new level of understanding. In eight short months, I was able to step into my PSW career with ease; Anderson College has not only changed my life, but my perspective on life.
My Story
There are so many ways that Anderson College changed, not only my life but, my perspective on life.
When I told my family that I was interested in retraining for a new career at the height of the pandemic, I was met with some scepticism. The last time I was in an academic setting was in the early 80s. I was filled with apprehension. Who was I to enroll in a full-time diploma-earning course at 59 years of age during a global pandemic? But going back to school was challenging and empowering. On one hand, I was anxious to pursue my passion for helping those who cannot always help themselves and on the other, it was very intimidating being surrounded by many younger faces.
Everyone at the college contributed to quelling my anxiety. Each person affiliated with Anderson College has been instrumental in my growth and education, from the front receptionist, the recruiter, and my extraordinary teacher to the placement officer who worked to secure a placement of my choice. The employees of Anderson truly care about their students, and it shows.
Due to Anderson’s rigorous programming and excellent placement coordination, I was able to secure a full-time position almost immediately after graduating. This high-quality instruction coupled with compassionate care allowed me to build my confidence to step into my PSW role with ease. Further to the high-quality education that prepared me for this role, I was also able to face my ailing mother’s health with a new level of understanding.
As I was retraining and attending Anderson, my mother’s health declined to the point that she needed support. I was able to face this difficult time with a level of confidence about what was happening to her health and assist my family members in preparing for her death. Anderson College has truly allowed me to understand that we can face difficulties with empathy and a new appreciation for all stages of life and health. I can confidently say that in eight short months, my life is changed for the better in so many ways.

Megan F. - LONDON - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER-HYBRID
Being a personal support worker (PSW) is an amazing job, especially when you see the smiles on the residents’ faces when you make them feel satisfied, loved, safe and protected. Anderson College helped me recognize I’m a nurturer and taught me how to gently approach those at my workplace, to have compassion. My training in the PSW program also taught me the essential duties to do my job better, the proper way, and to be more efficient. Thank you, Anderson College, for giving me the steps I needed to do this job.
My Story
I always had the ingrained teachings from my parents to respect those who are older than me and to listen to those who are asking for help or who are seeking advice and to protect them as much as I can. I was taught to respect my elders, and to treat everyone with sincerity and love. I was taught to do your job with integrity and show compassion to others. Being a PSW, I like to put into action what I was taught. It is important that the people I care for see how much I want them to feel better, to feel relieved that their needs are being met. A smile and a kind gesture can go a long way. Whenever I train a new employee, I always tell them to treat the people we care for as if they are your own grandparents, to interact with them because they're probably lonely or they don't remember the last time their family came to visit.
This was the training I received at Anderson College, and I want to pass on the knowledge to others.
Anderson College taught me how to gently approach those at my workplace. It helped me to notice that I am a nurturer. It gave me the training to do my job better, to be more efficient, and to do my job the proper way. They taught me to be humble. They taught me to have compassion, they trained me on the essential duties that I would need to complete my job.
Thank you, Anderson College, for giving me the steps I needed to do this job.

My everlasting gratitude stretches out to Anderson’s instructors, staff and students, and my family and friends, for raising me to where I am now.
My Story
A quote from Henry Ford states that “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” I find this quote inspiring, as it shows that age does not matter when it comes to learning.
The ability to learn and still be motivated to know more has given me the drive to keep going when opportunity presents itself. This opportunity from Anderson College and the Canadian government (in the form of the Personal Support Worker Challenge Fund) is one of the most precious gifts I have ever received as it helped me jumpstart my career; it is something I will treasure forever.

I knew it would be a tough journey, but with the help of my instructors, Hamsha Mahalingasivam, and my colleagues, we were able to finish the program full of future promise and potential.
Of course, my family are the main reason why I have done all this, and it was their emotional and mental support that carried me through my studies. They have been very patient and understanding of the journey we all had and for that I will be forever thankful.
Today, I consider myself to be one of the most valuable assets in my field as I possess the values, knowledge, and skills necessary to provide top-notch care to my clients. The theoretical and practical assessments I completed were my steppingstones to experiencing the world of the PSW. My time at Anderson College paved the way for me to land a rewarding career, while still being able to take care of my family.
I will never forget every opportunity I have received from Anderson College and its community. I will continue to work hard in serving my clients, my head held high as I say, “Anything is possible when you set your mind to achieve your goals and have a heart to serve others with selfless dedication and moral uprightness.” My everlasting gratitude stretches out to Anderson College; the instructors, staff, students, and friends for raising me to where I am now. To anyone taking the same course or planning to take the same path, I would like to say only one thing, “Always empty your cup so you have new knowledge to pour in and enjoy.”

It is a great feeling to be able to pursue my dreams and be able to fulfill them with the help of Anderson College. If I can do it, anyone can. Thank you and I will recommend Anderson College!
Merela L. - MISSISSAUGA DUNDAS - BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
When I lived in the Philippines, I knew I wanted to move, to have a better life, and I always dreamed of having my own business, but I had no formal education in business. Anderson College’s mission and values stood out for me, and I enrolled in Business Management. I can finish my studies in less that one year and I’ve experienced the best service, from administration and finance to the expert instructors. Learning something new can be scary, but you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do. This is just the beginning but with the help of Anderson College, I believe, my life is going to be beautiful.
My Story
I am an international student from Philippines, currently taking the Business Management program at Anderson College (Mississauga Campus). When I lived in the Philippines, I knew I wanted to move and have a better life. I decided to move to Canada and gain some education to set myself up for that better life.
I always dreamed of having my own business, however, I have no formal education in business. I did a lot of research on which school I would get the most out of and noticed that Anderson College’s mission, vision and values stood out for me. Once I was granted my Canadian visa, I started my journey at Anderson.
But how did Anderson College really change my life? For me, the fact that Anderson accepted me had a huge impact on my life. It was all a quick process, from planning, and the application, to the approval. I believe it was all meant to come together for me. I am grateful and blessed to have experienced the best service from Anderson College, from the administration to finance department assistance to the industry-expert instructors, teaching us to properly manage a successful career which I can apply to my business in the future, and all the lesson I’ve learnt here. They also offer internships that allow students to experience the work environment and practice what they teach in class.
Anderson College has opened doors to new experiences for me. What I like the most about Anderson is that I can finish my studies in less than a year. Everyone at Anderson College is so considerate and understanding. I am grateful for the help of everyone at Anderson College and my aunt and uncle who have supported me through my entire stay here in Canada.
Learning something new can be a scary experience, but you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do. This is just the beginning but with the help of Anderson College, I believe, my life is going to be beautiful.

Mina H. - WINDSOR - CHILD & YOUTH CARE WITH ADDICTIONS SUPPORT WORKER
My experience with Anderson College was life changing. I had recently moved to the area with my family, but had no friends, and with quarantine in effect, I felt alone. I am grateful I got to form bonds with my classmates. Not only did I learn essential knowledge and experience hands-one learning, but I also made lifelong friends and discovered a career that I never would have considered if not for Anderson.
My Insights
My personal experience after going through the Child and Youth Care with Addiction Support Worker program at Anderson College was life changing in a positive way.
Going into this program, I was very optimistic as I loved the idea of working with children and youth, but I was also intrigued by the addiction support work portion of the program. I had no clear idea of which career I wanted to go into and felt this program could lead me in the right direction to figure it out; surely enough, it did.
I had recently moved to the Windsor-Essex area three months prior to signing up and joining the program. So, at the time I had no friends in the area - just family - and we were in quarantine because of the pandemic; I was all alone in a sense. I am grateful I got to form bonds and friendships with my classmates over the course of this program and had the opportunity to experience very hands-on learning. I found it helped that our instructor was able to keep me on-track and guide me in the right direction when I was having trouble, and this was tremendously important in my learning. Though it was a challenge at times having to do school online and having virtual classes, everyone in the school (including students and staff) tried their best to be supportive towards each other; and we had an outstanding teacher to support us every step of the way. Not only did I learn essential knowledge that would help me improve my career in this field, but I also made lifelong friends. I gained the skill of networking within my community, and discovered a career which I would have never considered if it weren’t for Anderson.

My Story
Studying at a great college is the dream of every student, even more amazing is finding a college that feels like home; this was my delightful experience as a young Nigerian in Canada. My quest for knowledge led me to the unforgettable discovery of Anderson College. From the information online, I realized that many Africans testified to Anderson's inclusive system for integration, and my contact with it proved this. Heather Van Tassel, the admissions advisor, not only demonstrated Anderson's professionalism, but delivered with the values it represents as she guided me into making the right decisions and helping me settle comfortably into the school. My study platform also came with undeniable benefits like quality lecture delivery, access to study materials, and maintenance of a learner's interest. Despite my program being virtual, thus enabling me to work and study online, I was never distracted as there were no learning gaps due to the engaging and mind-stimulating lessons, effective communication of instruction, and demonstration of expertise by lecturers.
Furthermore, studying at Anderson was helpful in broadening my knowledge of the supply chain processes, I got to understand its essence against the backdrop of my previous knowledge. My course on Inventory Management made me realize the impact of creating a balance in production operations and this knowledge has improved my risk management skills. I was mostly marveled by Ms. Prikita Sharma's professionalism. Despite the extensive work of overseeing most of my courses, she expertly delivered the lessons without compromising quality. Anderson also enhanced my critical thinking, team organizing, problem-solving, and leadership skills through group projects with my course mates, which made us build networks throughout and after our time together.
Presently, a symbiotic relationship exists between my knowledge gained at Anderson and the practical application of it at my workplace, as utilizing this technology has greatly improved my productivity. I recently joined the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) as I work towards attaining the highest possible position in the nearest future. I have plans to take more courses and acquire more certifications, thereby becoming an expert in my field. For all this, I remain grateful to Anderson for positioning me solidly on this path to greatness, as I continue to explore with the mindset of an achiever.

Praise L. - NORTH YORK - BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The pandemic brought about a need to school my son online, so I quit my job without hesitation and enrolled in Anderson College’s Business Administration program. The pandemic and loss of my sister deeply challenged me, but Anderson made me realize how essential it is to never stop believing, and to continue to strive for the best. My experience helped me advance my career because I gained more intellectual knowledge to bring to the table, and confidence. I am proud to say that I am a graduate of Anderson College, North York, and I now work as a Production Coordinator/Admin Assistant. Anderson is a home for learning, providing excellence in instruction, empowering students to build the strength of character to go on.
My Story
Anderson college changed my life by giving me opportunities to learn and grow. The pandemic hit me hard. During the time of the Corona virus, I was working full time as an inside sales representative at one of the biggest produce companies in Ontario. But issues arose with the schedule of my school-aged son, and it came to a point where I had to guide him through his online schooling. I quit my job without hesitation and enrolled in Anderson College’s Business Administration program. I had the mindset that it would bring about change and success, and I got ready to explore a new career path.
I believe in R’Bonney Gabriel’s (the current Miss Universe’s) favourite quote by Hillel, “If not now, when?” If I didn't decide to go back and educate myself now, then when? This thought had a lot of impact on me and instills in me the desire to never stop.
I have a son, and so, while studying myself, I also juggled everything to guide him with his schooling as well. Anderson’s online courses gave me a smooth avenue for learning and made it possible. Having my teacher, Eric, who understood me and listened, was a bonus. My husband was our number one supporter too during this “pandemic era”. He was there to listen and encourage me, especially during my lowest point when I received the news from back home that my sister passed away while I was in the middle of my program. There were moments of crying and mourning; an experience that tested me and caused me to consider whether I should continue or not.
Business administration is a diverse program. Anderson College helped me advance my career because I gained more intellectual knowledge to bring to the table, and confidence. Now I work as a Production Coordinator/Admin Assistant. I am proud to say that I am a graduate of Anderson College, North York. It was the best decision I have ever made in my entire life, to continue learning through school and life itself.
Anderson College made me realize how essential it is to never stop believing, and to continue to strive for the best. Part of the mission of the college is to give their students a good future and I received that.
Anderson College is a home for learning, providing excellence in instruction, empowering students to build the strength of character to go on. I believe that knowledge is power, and personal power brings a lot to our lives. I applaud Anderson College.

Most importantly, it has helped me to grow as an individual and become the best version of myself. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that Anderson has provided me, and I will cherish these memories for years to come.
My Story
College is a life-changing experience for many individuals. It is a period of personal growth, intellectual development, and the acquisition of new skills. I too can attest to the life-changing impact college has had on me.
My college journey at Anderson College, North York began in the fall of 2020. I was fresh out of high school, eager to embark on a new adventure. It was a significant change for me since I was moving away from home for the first time. I was anxious about the challenges that lay ahead, but also excited about the opportunities that awaited me.
The first few weeks of college were a period of adjustment. I had to learn how to manage my time efficiently, navigate my way around campus, and balance my academic and social life.
One of the significant ways that college changed my life was by expanding my knowledge and skills. In high school, I had taken advanced courses in various subjects, but college exposed me to a whole new level of learning. The instructors were experts in their fields, and they challenged me to think critically and creatively. I was exposed to new ideas and perspectives, which broadened my worldview and made me more open-minded.
Anderson also taught me how to work independently and collaborate effectively with others. In many of my classes, we were required to complete group projects, which helped me develop my communication and leadership skills. I learned how to negotiate, compromise, and delegate tasks effectively. Another way that Anderson College changed my life was by helping me develop my passions and interests.
Finally, Anderson College changed my life by preparing me for the future. As I approach graduation, I feel confident and prepared to enter the workforce. I have gained valuable skills and experiences that will help me to succeed in any career I choose. I have also made lifelong connections with classmates, professors, and mentors who will continue to support me throughout my life.
Precious S. - DOWNTOWN TORONTO - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
I chose the Personal Support Worker program at Anderson College because I believed it would help me to find opportunities in Canada and empower me to support my financial needs. This course has changed me, helped me to become a better worker and a better person, teaching me how to deal with, and overcome, challenges. With the college’s encouragement, I was even able to maintain a healthy lifestyle while pursuing my education. I am grateful to Anderson, because the staff not only delivered subjects and practical training, but also prepared us for a brighter future, overall.
My Insights
The first thing that prompted me to go back to school was my desire to pursue something that interested me and to explore new opportunities as an international student in Canada. I chose the Personal Support Worker program offered at Anderson College because I believed that it would help me to find those opportunities and empower me to support my financial needs. This course has changed me, helped me to become a better worker, and a better person, by teaching me how to deal with, and overcome, challenges.
The most influential staff member in our course was Mrs. Iam Orozco. She was not only passionate in her teaching, but also amazing in delivering our practicum sessions. She always reminded us to be more prepared in every aspect of our lives and to continually develop the knowledge necessary for success in our field. She also encouraged us when we faced any difficulties during lectures and practicums and taught us how to deal with them. I am grateful to have had her as my teacher.
To be honest, I do not have any family members in Toronto, so I had to support myself on my educational journey. I am glad though that I do have an amazing employer, who supported me throughout my studies. I feel blessed.
What I appreciate most about Anderson is how encouraging and supportive the staff were and continue to be, from encouraging us personally, keeping us informed about student and alumni events to providing assistance in the job search. Right when I began with Anderson, as an initial step in the process, the school conducted a healthy lifestyle assessment. This was a way to promote healthy lifestyle and wellness choices for every adult student. This was an added advantage for me as I was able to maintain a healthy lifestyle while pursuing my education. Anderson College also helped me to explore many career opportunities, such as working in a hospital, long-term care, community service or even as a private personal support worker. I realize I have many environments to choose from that I would feel comfortable within.
I am very grateful I chose Anderson College, above all the other colleges, because the staff were helpful, not only in the delivering subjects and practical training, but also in preparing us for a brighter future overall.

Reshma A. - MISSISSAUGA DUNDAS - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER-HYBRID
The reason I chose the PSW program was to help others. Right from my admission to the program through graduating, everything was very smooth. My placement experience was everything I could have asked for. The staff were amazing and supportive, and the teachers were phenomenal. This course has made me a professional who can support clients to live their lives more independently and help them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional care. I would recommend this program and Anderson College to all students who want to improve their lives.
My Story
Anderson College has given me a chance to explore job opportunities in healthcare as a PSW in Canada.
I enrolled in the Personal Support Worker (PSW)– Hybrid program, that allowed for asynchronous learning, and my instructors responded to, and guided me, through emails. I had the chance to attend three weeks of in-person lab classes before the internship and received professionalism and guidance from them all the way along. I have become more passionate toward senior citizens and have gained medical knowledge, especially related to dealing with mentally ill patients, those with dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.
Anderson has many courses related to healthcare. Resources provided, enriched and enhanced my knowledge to explore a variety of options in healthcare. The opportunities for professionals in this rewarding industry are continuously expanding; offering virtual classes, ensures the safety of students and staff (during times when health is of concern).
The reason I chose the PSW program was to help others. My placement experience was everything I could have asked for. The staff were amazing and supportive, and the teachers were phenomenal.
Right from my admission to the program through graduating, everything was very smooth. The experience began with the admissions process, and then came applying for OSAP (financial assistance), orientation sessions, virtual classes, asynchronous learning in Bright Space, being provided a laptop for the course study, timely student support via emails, regular assignments and exams, three weeks of in-person lab classes, practicum placement with a long-term care facility and submitting timesheets and records via email. I am very happy that I chose Anderson College and that my spouse was so supportive and encouraging when I decided to get back to school again. I would especially like to thank Roxanne Armstrong (Placement Coordinator), Vera Costa (Office Admin), and Rajiv Menon (Campus Director – who provided support for all my concerns), for their wonderful support in completing this journey, together.
Finally, Anderson College has embedded all the qualities of a personal support worker, such as caring for people and families during periods of illness or recovery, into this training program. This course has made me a professional who can support clients to live their lives more independently and help them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional care. I would recommend this course and Anderson College to all students who want to improve their lives.
Ritchel C. - NORTH YORK - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER-HYBRID
I am a warrior who embraces life with optimism and strength. I worked as a nurse and private caregiver in Cyprus before becoming a permanent resident of Canada. Although life has been a roller coaster, I've enjoyed the ride. I was a self-supporting student at Anderson College. My journey was daring and bold, as I took two different courses at the same time, and despite the negativities, I kept fighting and aligning my goals and objectives. Failures have always been a part of my life, but I believe in the Japanese proverb, “Fall down seven times, get up eight”. I am now a graduate of both courses, and I want to inspire struggling students – to know that they are not alone and all the sacrifices they are making now will make sense someday. We can always become who we want to be.
My Story
Life is very unpredictable. As a warrior, I embrace everything that comes to me with optimism and strength. Good things are blessings and failures are lessons. Nothing can beat a principled and experienced woman with a dream. I worked as a nurse and private caregiver in Cyprus before becoming a permanent resident of Canada. I started my journey in Canada as a live-in nanny with a work-permit visa. My life story is a roller coaster, but at least I’ve enjoyed the ride.
Life has led me to places I never thought I would go and made me do things I never thought I could do. I wonder how I made it through. I was a self-supporting student at Anderson College and my journey towards my objective was daring and bold. I took the Personal Support Worker-Hybrid program at the college, and during that time, I was also enrolled at Medix to become a pharmacist assistant. Many people would say it was crazy and mind-boggling to take two different courses and work different jobs at the same time. It was madness, to be honest. Managing my studies, and working on top of it all, was more than suffering. People were very pessimistic, but those negativities did not stop me. Rather, they ignited and fueled whatever was inside me to keep fighting and align my goals and objectives. It brought out the warrior, focused on survival, in me.
I was inspired because I wanted to prove to all the people who put me down, and to myself, that I could be the woman I wanted to be, not the woman they had defined me as. Failures have always been a part of my life, but I believe in the Japanese proverb, “Fall down seven times, get up eight”. My drive to carry out my pursuits in life is more powerful than any exhaustion; the word ‘exhausted’ became non-existent in my vocabulary. I kept motivating myself, telling myself that I could do it. And alas, I did! I am now a graduate of both courses. Graduating from my studies doesn’t mean it is the end of my journey, it is only the beginning.
I am sharing my story because I want to inspire struggling students. I want them to know that they are not alone and that all the sacrifices they are making now will make sense someday. We can always become who we want to be.
Satvir C. - MISSISSAUGA HURONTARIO - PARALEGAL
Like many new immigrants, I encountered unexpected challenges related to documentation, employment, and finding housing; seeking legal advice was beyond my financial means. I enrolled in Anderson College’s Paralegal program to understand Canadian rules and regulations and establish a successful career. While most colleges offer a two-year option, Anderson’s one-year program saves valuable time, and the curriculum is designed to engage students and prevent them from feeling overwhelmed – essential to a working mother of two. I now find myself more confident, career-oriented, self-reliant, and hopeful for a brighter future. My Anderson experience has been transformative and I’m confident it can provide the foundation and support you need for your professional journey.
My Story
I arrived at Anderson College to demonstrate my abilities and potential in a foreign country. I am entirely confident that I selected the ideal location to develop my career.
After immigrating to Canada from India in 2020, my primary focus was on understanding Canadian rules and regulations while establishing a successful career here. Like many new immigrants, I encountered unexpected challenges related to documentation, employment, and finding housing. Unfortunately, seeking legal advice was beyond my financial means.
Although I was a high school teacher in India, I decided to pursue a paralegal program to overcome the obstacles I was facing. I inquired at various colleges, but the administrative staff at Anderson College proved to be incredibly helpful, and the admission process was straightforward.
Attending classes led by Justice of the Peace, Brian McNulty, and the renowned paralegal instructor, Ian Bell, is an experience I consider to be a privilege. The college excels in terms of infrastructure, parking, staff, and security. While most colleges offer a two-year paralegal program, Anderson College provides a one-year program saving valuable time. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to keep students engaged and prevent them from feeling overwhelmed throughout the year. As a working mother of two children, I have not faced any difficulties in continuing this course.
Finally, after a period of stress and disappointment before discovering Anderson College, I now find myself more confident, career-oriented, self-reliant, and hopeful for a brighter future. The education I am receiving at Anderson is significantly benefiting my day-to-day life.
If you are in search of an ideal place to build your career, I encourage you to confidently choose Anderson College of Health, Business, and Technology. My experience at this institution has been transformative, and I am confident that it can provide the foundation and support you need for your professional journey.

“Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living.” Anthony D. Williams
If you had asked me years ago where I would be today, I could never have imagined that I would be where I am now. Nearly a year after ending an abusive relationship, I was given the opportunity to visit my dear friend of 12 years in Australia. My family gave their blessing, and I had a beautiful time. But just days before my scheduled return, my flights were canceled, and borders closed worldwide due to the pandemic. Every flight I booked over the next 17 months were also canceled. I did all I could to secure a flight, but restrictions made it impossible.
Gratefully, I had the support of my friend and his family, who provided a safe place for me until I could return home to my three children. Eventually, my friend and I got married, and we were both fully vaccinated as essential workers in July 2021. By the grace of God, an Australian government repatriation flight became available in August 2021, and we were able to return to Canada.
Upon reflection, I decided to pursue a career in support work. I spoke to a friend who had enrolled in a Personal Support Worker (PSW) course at Anderson College (formerly known as Westervelt), and she gave me details to connect with Nicole, a staff member at the London campus. Nicole was great and held a spot for me until my return, giving me hope for my family.
We returned to Canada in September 2021, and I was officially enrolled in the PSW course at Anderson College. Despite some adversities, I felt supported by everyone, and I was impressed by how well the instructors and staff at Anderson adapted to the challenges of the pandemic, and how we were met with patience and understanding.
I loved online learning with Jennifer as she was fun and truly cared about us. Brooke, my skills instructor, was awesome and I learned many valuable lessons from her. My clinical instructor Bev was incredibly dedicated, and I loved my placement at Westmount Gardens. Although there were challenges with OSAP, Amy was great and patient, leading to a positive outcome.
Anderson College saved my life, and the PSW course helped me see that we all deserve care.
After graduation, I took time to be with my children and applied my skills and abilities to assist them. I recently updated my resume, and I am confident that my experience with Anderson College has equipped me to find the perfect position for me.

These ladies are determined to ensure their students follow the steps to succeed in their program and are on the ball when assisting with documentation to graduate.
While taking this course, I moved away from home with a man who was very abusive and worked fifty-eight hours a week. During this exhausting time, the teacher would stay after class and assist with school assignments. The ladies in the office even took care of documentation and school paperwork.

Tiffani G. - NORTH YORK - IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT
As a child, I immigrated to Canada from St. Lucia. Growing up I identified as Canadian, until, in third grade, I was assigned a project on my cultural background. This sparked my interest in immigration but, as I took immediate jobs to support my family, it would be three years before I would pursue that career. I finally enrolled in Anderson College’s Paralegal program. Over 8 months, I gained extensive knowledge on all streams of immigration and Canadian citizenship. Classes were taught by engaging registered Canadian immigration consultants. Career services assisted me in finding a placement at a well-known immigration law. Anderson College has played an instrumental role in helping me start a career in this field and I am now thriving in my current, full-time, position.
My Story
When I was just 18-months old, my mom and I immigrated to Canada from St. Lucia. Growing up I identified as Canadian, until I was assigned a project on my cultural background in the third grade. Discovering my St. Lucian heritage for the first time left me anxious and confused. However, learning about my mom’s emotional and legal journey to Canada as I got older sparked my interest in the field of immigration.
Unfortunately, during my undergraduate studies my mom underwent surgery. While she was recovering, she was wrongfully dismissed from her job which left her unable to singlehandedly support she and I financially. Thus, when I graduated from university I decided to work in retail and customer service and put a temporary pause on future studies.
Three years later, I saw an advertisement for an immigration consultant diploma while on the subway. After conducting more research on the various schools that offer the program, I discovered Anderson College. Their flexible class schedules and practicum opportunities appealed to me the most.
While completing my Immigration Consultant diploma at Anderson College, I gained extensive knowledge over an 8-month period, on all streams of permanent and temporary immigration, as well as Canadian citizenship. Classes were taught by registered Canadian immigration consultants who were well versed on all immigration topics. Our instructor was engaging and fostered critical thinking among students as he often used relevant case studies to teach each lesson.
Once classes were complete, Anderson’s career services team assisted me with finding a law firm, where I could complete my practicum. During my placement, I was able to gain in-house training on Canadian immigration consultancy and apply the concepts I learned in class to a professional setting. At the end of my practicum, I was offered an ongoing internship—this equipped me with the knowledge and experience necessary to gain employment at a well-known immigration law firm 6 months later.
Anderson College has played an instrumental role in helping me start a career in the field of immigration. I am now thriving in my current position, thanks to my experience at Anderson.

Van N. - MISSISSAUGA HURONTARIO - PARALEGAL
I came to Canada in 2009, as a teenager with an ambition to graduate from college in fashion and become successful. But I had a baby, and everything changed. I struggled each day and, in the hustle to provide, I had a stroke in June 2022. This was my wake-up call! I took a gamble on myself and enrolled in the Paralegal program at Anderson College; it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I graduated with the knowledge to begin a new career, a new life, AND with friends who encouraged and pushed me along the way. Archimedes once said, “Give me a place to stand and I will move the earth.” Anderson College gave me that place to stand; thank you!
My Story
Before Anderson College, I was a lone wolf. I came to Canada in 2009, as a teenager with an ambition to graduate from college in fashion and become successful. But life didn't go as expected. I had a baby at a young age, and everything changed!
For the next 10 years, I struggled to push myself to pursue my dreams, my burdens became greater, my marriage failed, my friends became distant, I developed bad habits and suffered mentally. I thought that I was going to be unhappy forever.
I struggled each day to build my life again, to provide for my children, in the best way I could. I needed to do it alone, without anyone’s help! I had a stroke in June 2022 while I was hustling to get my life back. Luckily, I survived! This was my wake-up call!
I started researching new careers and came across Anderson College. Paralegal is a challenging program which I thought I would never be able to get through. With a lot of doubt in mind, I took a gamble on myself and enrolled. It was the best decision I have ever made. I learned a lot, not only about becoming a Paralegal but also about life. I escaped my vulnerability to explore my potential. I started to open myself up to new friends from other cultures and backgrounds who were in similar situations. I did not feel alone anymore. For the first time in my life, I did not look for a reason to quit, I looked for all the reasons to move forward.
Thank you, Anderson College, for giving me an opportunity to re-write a brand-new chapter of my life. Before, I was afraid of being judged, afraid that I would not be able to be successful in school after being away from it for such a long time, but Anderson proved me wrong. I graduated with the knowledge to begin a new career and a new life AND with friends who encouraged and pushed me along the way. I am no longer alone!
Archimedes once said, “Give me a place to stand and I will move the earth.” in a literary way, Anderson College gave me a place to stand, and I will always be grateful for that.

My Story
Before joining Anderson college, I was lost and did not know my way, especially because I was new to Canada, and I was not fluent in English. I had to make a choice – to search for any job, so that I could complete my life here or draw a longer path that requires patience, which guarantees me a stable job and an income. Studying the Medical Office Administrator (MOA) program at Anderson College, I consider a major turning point in my life.
The first day I joined the college, inquiring about the programs that might suit my qualifications, I was surrounded by amazing staff who cared and respected my opinion. God facilitated everything for me; I do not know how, but that’s what I felt. It seems that a message from God was delivered to me, to take the first step. A few days after we started studying in the college, I felt disappointed, everything was difficult to me, subjects were completely new to me, and the medical terminology sounded heavy to my ears; I could not pronounce them easily. I asked myself “What am I doing? What is this mess I got myself into?”. I thought that I took many steps backwards, but that was not true. I told myself, “I will not fail, and I will not waste what I have done. I will stand again,” and I sacrificed every moment and overcame all obstacles to complete the path I’d drawn for myself.
Here I am today, graduating in a few months and I am about to reach my goal. Great happiness overwhelms me but also mixed with some fear. This fear is a strong motivation which makes me full of enthusiasm to move toward my future. I look forward to being proud of my accomplishments in the near future.
Joining Anderson College made me look at the difficulties as positive opportunities, which illuminate my path and decorate it. I am standing now on my feet without the support of anyone. I am proud to be a student at Anderson College. I advise anyone struggling in this country to take this step and join Anderson College, to overcome your fears, achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams. It is the time to take the first step towards your new life.

My actual trainings and the lessons I leaned was all I needed to prepare me for the job.
As soon as I graduated my course, I immediately got a job as a PSW. I can say that it was my calling. I loved every minute of it. Though this job can be physically exhausting, at the end of the day it is all worth it. Being a PSW is the next best thing to being a nurse. I believe that Anderson College is one of the finest educational institutions in the country, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.
Firstly, the quality of teaching was exceptional. The professors were knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about their subjects, which made learning a truly engaging experience. They were always available to answer questions and provide support, which helped me to excel academically.
Secondly, the campus facilities were top-notch, and the computer labs were equipped with the latest technology, which made research and studying more accessible. The campus was also well-maintained, clean, and provided a comfortable environment for learning.
I express my gratitude for the positive impact you had on my life during my time as a student at your institution. Your commitment to academic excellence and personal growth significantly influenced my career and personal development.
A good point that I experienced during my time at Anderson College was the supportive learning environment. The faculty and staff were dedicated to helping students succeed and provided excellent academic and career guidance. They encouraged me to pursue my interests and helped me develop the skills necessary to achieve my goals.
Another good point was the range of courses and programs offered. The diverse curriculum gave me the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects and find my passion. The hands-on learning experiences, such as internships and co-op programs, helped me gain practical skills that are essential in the job market.
There was a bad point that I experienced during my time at Anderson College. The lack of organization in some aspects of campus life, such as event planning and scheduling, caused frustration and confusion among students. It was challenging to keep up with the changes in schedules and event cancellations, which affected the overall experience for some students. Despite this, I am pleased to say that Anderson College took action to address the issues. I have seen significant improvements in the organization of events and schedules, which have greatly enhanced the student experience. The efforts made by the administration to listen to feedback and implement changes have made a positive impact on the campus community.
Anderson College has changed my life for the better, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that I gained during my time as a student. Thank you for your dedication to excellence and for making a difference in the lives of your students.
