A Short Story – Sharing Our Best Seeds for Success
Defeated and exhausted from the trials and tribulations re-occurring in his life, a peasant approached a smiling, blind man sitting serenely on the side of a dirt road.
‘Why are you smiling?’ asked the peasant. He couldn’t understand why a blind impoverished man was smiling under the blazing sun.
‘There is much to smile about.’ Replied the blind man.
‘No there isn’t…’ the peasant man grumbled about his life. He expressed to the blind man how there was a never-ending avalanche of problems. And that no matter how hard he tried, he could never progress the way he wanted to.
‘Come with me.’ The blind man led them to a dark tunnel.
‘We can’t go in there. I won’t be able to see, and neither can you.’ The peasant protested.
‘We can’t see but we can feel and hear.’ The blind man entered the tunnel and after a moment, so did the peasant out of curiosity and disbelief.
Using the interior wall as a guide, they found their way out of the tunnel shortly.
‘Look,’ the blind man said. ‘We made it out alive. You thought it necessary to have sight to cross yet we felt our way out of the tunnel and listened for any noises to avoid accidents.’
He tapped the peasant on the back and left him with the following parting words:
‘You already have everything you need to accomplish what it is that you want. All you need to do is use it.’
-Adopted from an old tale.
The Moral: Do not get discouraged if things look impossible. Assess the situation and understand what can be done. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll be able to accomplish by doing so.
