SUPPLY CHAIN AND LOGISTICS*

A career in logistics is in-demand and this trend is expected to grow as online sales and the requirement to move goods continue to boom. An educated logistics workforce is vital to a Canadian company’s successful strategy in managing goods and services both locally and around the globe.

As a Supply Chain and Logistics Professional, you undertake numerous responsibilities which include: logistics coordination, transportation and freight operations; optimizing order frequency, cycles and transit options; goods delivery scheduling and tracking and expediting overdue shipments; sourcing suppliers, garnering quotes and tendering submissions; negotiating pricing, terms of delivery and other contract details; processing purchase orders, freight forwarding and other documentation; monitoring inventory levels and generating inventory reports; reconciling physical inventories and resolving material discrepancies; and, reporting loss, damage and return of goods and materials. You are eligible to work in varied environments including retail, transportation, manufacturing and production, and consulting, to name a few.

Graduates of the program are eligible to receive the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) certification, along with membership to the Supply Chain Management Association. Possessing these credentials will set you apart from other job seekers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The program is 46 weeks, including a 16-week practicum with on-the-job training, offsite with potential employers. Our Supply Chain and Logistics program introduces you to the modern practices and concepts of logistics and supply chain management as a vital part of corporate success in the local and global marketplace. You will gain professional competencies needed for entry-level careers in purchasing, logistics and supply chain management in various industries, public sector, retail, freight forwarding, import/export and other areas of the economy. Graduates will be responsible for planning and supporting decision making processes related to sourcing, supplier selection, purchasing, transportation, warehousing, inventory management, quality assurance and disposition of goods and materials. Potential employers range from traditional manufacturers and retailers to supply chain specialists like consulting firms and transportation service providers.

Mark has amassed over 35 years’ experience in logistics, with a comprehensive background in transportation services, warehouse and supply chain management, operations management, financial management, and administration. His skills include leading teams in manufacturing, third-party logistics, food retail, and finance. Mark’s skills include optimizing operational efficiency and reducing costs via creative solutions to practical problems, while utilizing exceptional negotiating and team building skills.

Mark has a BSc (Hons) from University of Toronto, Mississauga, and has taken professional advancement courses in a multitude of topics, including ISO 9000 Standards, Business Case Analysis, Team Leader Training, Effective Negotiating Skills, and Sustainable Profit Improvement. He is also a Six Sigma Yellow Belt and a Canadian International Freight Forwards Association-certified instructor.

Prikita has earned her master’s in supply chain management and logistics. She is a CIFFA certified instructor and an active member of Canadian International Freight Forwarding Association. She has extensive experience of demand planning, sourcing, and inventory flow management. She is a logistic specialist and has even worked as a training facilitator with large scale Supply Chain companies in Ontario. She has experience of working as a Senior Demand Planning Analyst for automotive and furniture based companies. She has 7+ years of experience in mentoring the students with Supply Chain Industry related strategies, policies, and procedures.

Prikita received her Post Graduate degree from St. Clair College. She also holds her degrees in Human Resources Management as well as Accounting.

Vinu Raj brings with him a diversified experience of over 13 years in the industry. His professional background stretches over the entire breadth of procurement and logistics operations within the oil & gas, mining, construction, manufacturing, and public sectors.

Vinu Raj has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics Management. He is also a CIFFA certified instructor ( CCI ) and currently working towards his CSCMP designation from Supply Chain Canada.
