At Anderson College, we are constantly amazed by the courage of our students, faculty, and staff. In December 2021 we ran a “My Courageous Moment” story-gathering campaign to celebrate our students, their strength, the moments that have defined their lives and the people who have motivated them to overcome and succeed.
In sharing our stories, we realize we are not alone and are often inspired to recognize, or to find, our own extraordinary courage. We hope the following story moves you, as it has our Anderson family.
Courage is grace under pressure. My courageous moment is simple yet motivational. After completing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), I took a break and got busy raising my kids. Once they started school, I had more free time available but all those lost years being at home and away from my profession took away my courage to pursue my field again. I was clueless about how to begin and get back on track.
“I was left far behind in the race. I was heading into depression as I felt that I’d wasted my education.”
My colleagues were way ahead of me and successfully shining in their respective fields, even my juniors were miles ahead of me. I was left far behind in the race. I was heading into depression as I felt that I’d wasted my education. It seemed that all those nights of hard work were not as fruitful as I desired them to be. I was looking for options and decided to take baby steps to get back on track.
After being away from studies for over 12 years, enjoying scrolling through social media and watching Netflix at home, even the thought of studying again wasn’t very pleasing, but as they say, where there is a will there is a way.
After numerous nights searching and discussing with my husband how to get back to working in my field, I came across Anderson College on Facebook. I requested more information and was contacted by one of the team members who was very friendly, co-operative and helped me navigate my way through this life-changing decision.
“I am thankful to Anderson College for providing me with the platform. I am looking forward to a terrific jumpstart to my career again.”
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Lito. He answered all my queries and concerns. I used to ask him the same questions over and over again to clear my doubts and he was kind enough to give detailed answers each time.
Furthermore, the follow-up helped me to determine that starting work on rebuilding my career was certainly better than spending the rest of my life in depression. I am thankful to Anderson College for providing me with the platform. I am looking forward to a terrific jumpstart to my career again.
It’s never too late to start studying again. Just keep in mind, where there is a will there is a way. Never lose hope!
